Figures announced by Dr Thaweesin Visanuyothin of the CCSA yesterday for the number of foreign visitors in the period of November 1st to 14th since Thailand reopened showed the USA on top but with the UAE hot on their heels.

There have now been 50,074 foreign arrivals by air.

The top ten and number are:

USA 7,999

UAE 7,935

Germany 5,648

UK 2,706

Japan 2,530

France 1,953

Russia 1,875

South Korea 1,729

Israel 1,532

Switzerland 1,507

Dr Thaweesin said that figures for the number of SHA and SHA+ accredited establishments in Bangkok ought to be as high as 10,000.

He urged more to apply.

At the moment there are 7,274 hotels, restaurants, shops and other businesses with SHA and 1,006 with SHA+.

Restaurants with SHA are 4,861 and SHA+ 283.

Hotels with SHA are 736 and SHA+ 431.

I am really, really but really confused by the numbers.

There have now been 50,074 foreign arrivals by air

in which currency is expressed the number of visitors as this seems to vary from day to day and depends on the announcer...for the same period ?

Winning!

So if 'trend' continues the rest of Nov 2021, then 100k+ expected.

Compared to tourist arrivals of Nov 2019 @ 3.35 million ... hmm

From Dec 2019 news-blip - "The ministry said foreign visitors accounted for 3.35 million last month"

Yes, most from America as their gas and oil charges are going through the roof. Thailand is a great place to come and worm up.

Dismal.  And, will remain dismal as long as 'SHA' appears in any story.

Amen to that, on a recent flight we wandered around the plane out of curiosity and asked a few folks if they were tourists. Not a one!

UAE 7,935; From Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi? If so,  most likely returning expats and Thais using these hubs.

Does anybody know if they actually separate the nationalities or is it just where the flights arrived from?  If it is flights, that would explain the high number for the UAE.

Second mentioned name has no bearing on the economy anymore..  been putting USD into the Thai economy for 20 years. Handsum mak mak according to well paid cuties ????

Edited by Bkktodd

Let me guess…most of those Americans booked flights and accommodations six to eight weeks ago—with a USD solidly in the 33’s.  Big surprise upon arrival—the Mighty Teflon Baht has trounced western currencies better than 2% since then.  And by the time they’ve had enough of LoS, the Baht will rise even higher.

What a flim-flam.....
