I don't give a toss about the porn.

But culture is NEVER more important than freedom.

There are plenty who do like to give a toss though.

Your culture is evident in every seaside resort, or city locations:

Walking street, Bangla road, Soi Cowboy, Nana, Patpong to name but a few.

Everything you can see on "Only fans" is available for rent every night.
Whats the difference between buying it on the street or watching it in the privacy of your own home?

And in every village karaoke bar throughout the land.

No, it isn't.

Eventually stupid cultures and nation states will be obsolete, but most are too thick to see it yet.

I totally disagree.freedomof expression and other freedom forms are most important, but always within a country‘s and national cultural accepted limits. One can‘t destroy a nation’s culture in the name of freedom.

Could always be like Japan where porn is allowed but only with the body parts that make it porn in the first place fuzzed out, (so i've been told)

But apparently the rear entrance is not deemed a sexual organ in japan, I was told this also by 'a friend'

This man has no idea about the 20 and 21st century. You can maintain culture and have personal and community freedom. Dictatorial control changes culture to the needs and wants of those in power.

Not fit for the job. Another square peg in a round hole like most government appointees.

He's the son of the former godfather of Chonburi aka Kamnan Poh. His other brothers are all now involved in politics.

Freedom of Expression is intertwined culture

Thailand sitting on a high horse. Lots of Nations have porno and still have a worthwhile culture.

I haven't figured out what my country's culture is yet, never mind trying to figure out Thai culture.

I do know though, me first, last and always is rife, as is abuse and violence if rule number one is not obeyed. Is this culture?

The ex major of my beloved town Pattaya "Khun khunploem" at its best.

He is teaching all the country the high right moral values that has to be kept in his new vest as culture minister ????????????????

And in addition to the above, cultures evolve and change. But only if the climate to permit change is in place. Those in power are never privy to the real culture of a place.

yep probably a money thing if your in front of a screen watching it you ain't on the streets and in the bars paying for it .got to think about the commerce in this cultural country   lol

Well, you've now heard it from the Thai ruling class. The last thing it wants to give to it's people is personal freedom.

Freedom of Expression and Culture belong to the same family. Let's not mix Culture and Brain Washing. These twos area world apart.

You can see where this is going, next thing you know the beach muppet in his dollar shirt will be explaining to us that alcohol consumption is not a part of Thai culture and so must be stopped.    <rolleyes>

One would think freedom. freedom of speech,  and freedom  of expression  is more important.   Oh!  Thats right not many countries have this God given right, but tgey think they do.

Yes Freedom is number one, but with a million or so PRO's in Thailand [many now out of work] you would think legalizing  grass would be on the back burner.

Culture - what a Crock ! Here or anywhere.

In Canada the First Nations - prior to the arrival of the White man, had a culture where they raped, pillaged, and looted the neighboring tribes.

Now - all their 'culture' is about living in harmony with nature.

Oh, and taking money off these same white men who they openly despise.

Culture 555

cul·ture
/ˈkəlCHər/
the customs, arts, social institutions, and achievements of a particular nation, people, or other social group.
By the above definition the Chinese, Thai, Lao, Khmer, all the sub groups living in LOS should have their own distinct area to practice this 'culture'
That is going to happen - SURE 555

Thailand: The only country in the world where paying for a BJ is just as easy as buying a pack of chewing gum at the corner 7-11, but you're not allowed to visit pornhub.com. ????

I think the article is about the production of porn by Thais within the country.

Chewing with your mouth open!

What a bunch of absolute hypocrites in their ivory tower! What culture? You mean the massive sex industry culture? Combined with the rip-off-tourists/farangs-as-much-as-you-can culture?

I don’t mind they don’t legalize porn, as long as they keep the ping-pong shows as a part of “Thai-culture”…

.......and and and the all time favorite cultural sport of blowing darts out of certain parts of the anatomy from the stage to pop balloons around your head on your birthday............not that I have ever experienced this ????????

Can't do that either, LB's have just been shunned by the government as not being Thai culture.

Really??  I can remember when it was against the law to harm or even talk bad to a Lady boy..........they were protected by Buddhist Law.  The Govt looked on them as demented and sick in the head, not in control of their faculties...............when arrested they were often taken to Temples to undergo psychiatric treatment.  I know for a fact, when I owned bar, one LB that used to come around was gathered up by BIB and taken to the temple in Jom Tien for a month.
