SETV e-visa received 1 day after entering Thailand (had to go for a 30 days exemptions at the last minute) so can i ...

Recommended Posts

So because their e visa system was broken i received my SETV visa 1 day after entering Thailand (i mean, of course).

I had to amend my return ticket at the last minute so that my POS doesn't go over 29 days (didn't want to try my luck with the IO with a too long return ticket and no Visa).

So, i know that i could extend my 30 days exemption to another 30 days, but i was wondering if there was a way the immigration could "cancel" that stamp and validate my SETV visa without me having to exit / entering Thailand (which would be hard because there's flights for Laos / Cambodia / Vietnam / Penang).

I know that it wouldn't have been possible to do that before, but considering the covid situation, is there any chance i could do that at Changwatana ? that would give me 2+1 months instead of 1+1

Any idea ? thanks

As your passport wasn't stamped in error at the time you entered, there's no procedure to get it corrected. Very unfortunate indeed.

If you have the time to stick around, a side trip to Cambodia would nowadays be feasible and reasonably cheap, so leaving and reentering within the validity period of your SETV might finally be an option again.

Please outline that procedure in detail.

Fly into Cambodia then return??

Will require a TP.

CRAZY suggestion.

Ridiculous.

Will require a TP ?

What does TP stands for ?

Also, it doesn't seems like there's any flights between BKK and Cambodia right now, or at least no Air Asia, unless i'm doing it wrong.

I'm pretty sure he means Thailand Pass.

No idea if you can go to Cambodia at the moment though.

Visa runs have been impractical or even impossible until very recently.

But on the Royal Thai Embassy, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, they seem to be saying that it's possible.

"STEPS TO TAKE FOR TRAVELING TO THAILAND AS A FOREIGNER"

https://phnompenh.thaiembassy.org/en/publicservice/steps-to-take-for-traveling-to-thailand-as-a-foreigner

Step 1) Apply for Visa

and then Step 2)

2. Book Your Flight, Book Your Hotel, and Prepare Your Insurance

*** Land entry is not permissible, except for those who seek medical treatment and their accompanying people only. If you wish to do so, please contact your hospital from these lists (http://www.hsscovid.com/files/Alternative%20Hospital%20Quarantine.pdf and http://www.hsscovid.com/files/Alternative%20Hospital%20Quarantine2.pdf) to apply for a confirmation letter and an affidavit of support from the Department of Health Service Support, Ministry of Public Health of Thailand). You will apply for a visa and a COE with the Royal Thai Embassy. ***

Flight: All travelers will be allowed to enter Thailand by air. Flight options include chartering your own flight, traveling with a chartered flight organized by a travel agency (click), traveling with a commercial flight (some airlines have resumed their services between Thailand and Cambodia or via a third country, such as Singapore, South Korea, etc.).

Hotel: You must book a hotel (AQ or SHA+, check here) for a certain number of quarantine days depending on your scheme below. You can book on the following websites as well: https://www.agoda.com/quarantineTH https://asq.locanation.com/ https://asq.ascendtravel.com/ https://asqthailand.com/ and https://entrythailand.go.th/asq

So it appears that it's possible. That said, I wouldn't like to be the first person to try it out ????

The OP won't need to leave till December, so there will be scheduled flights. Tourist visas for Cambodia already available online, no quarantine. The OP already knows the entry procedures for Thailand, no need to rehash that part.

Note that I said "side trip" which might or might not be something of interest to them. Flying back immediately would be crazy, but staying in Cambodia for 1-2 weeks and returning with the still valid SETV would be something I'd consider if I was in that situation.
