We received an ATK Test Kit for our son from his school as he is going back tomorrow Monday. We tried  using it with out success, maybe my wife didn’t swab properly or whatever. I went to the local pharmacy 150 baht for a kit, it is hardly going to encourage the average Thai here in Pattaya to buy one albeit I believe they can have a free test at a government hospital. I called into several pharmacies to compare the prices, they varied between 120 to 199 baht depending on the brand. Didn’t the government provide ATK Kits free of charge ?

What do you mean by "without success"? No lines at all showed up at all next to the 'C' or the 'T'?

Did you try and do it for the nose or the throat? I suggest the latter because the cheap kits don't have particularly thin swabs for nasal insertion. And it doesn't even have to be thorough deep swab that almost causes a gag reflex.

After you put the liquid in to the mixer, you only need to dip the swab for a few seconds into the clear liquid, and then only need a few droplets onto the testing kit, then wait for 30 seconds.

Not sure where the free ATK kits are given out and to whom. If you find it, would appreciate a reply.

I wasn’t paying attention to the test, my wife and her friend were doing the tests together with our son and her son,  no lines showed up on our sons but they did on my wife’s friend’s sons  kit. The one I bought from pharmacy was a different brand, not sure about the quality of the one supplied by the school, both kits were manufactured in China.

Yeah, I think most of them are. Even the NHS in the UK uses Chinese-manufactured tests. I've also used some imported Korean-made ones that I got hold of from a friend, I have been fortunate to get a (negative) result each time, and I have done a lot...

Might just be a case of bad luck with your son's test.

You can also use the spit ATK tests. That's where you spit into a plastic bowl and then put it in the test strip, my daughter uses that one as she has to do test twice a week for her school.

These were the same kits that United States FDA banned.

To many false positives.

Your better off getting the South Korean or German brands at Watsons for a more reliable test

Roughly 200 baht apiece.
