Rastaputin
A friend of mine plans to move to Thailand part-time. He can continue with his job in Europe, paying him a monthly Salary of over 80000 Baht after taxes. He wants to get an annual Visa extension based on his marriage with a Thai Woman. He has problems with the 400000 Baht in Bank options, so he wonders if his European income would satisfy the Immigration requirements. He currently lives in Europe with his wife, who will join him to Thailand. What are his options?
DrJack54
The obvious answer is to obtain extensions based on marriage be that income method which will work or money in bank method. Can't imagine why the money in bank wouldn't be preferred option especially given it's part time living here. Also consider other options all depends on the planned length of stays in Thailand and Eu.

Income from abroad would be his preferred way. He lives quite a bit away from his nearest Thai Embassy, and they seem to not answer his questions. Is monthly income from abroad by way of a salary an option? We have heard now that working for an employer abroad is not considered forbidden work. Also good to note that most (if not all) immigration offices will need Both partners to attend when they apply for the marriage extension.

His wife will have to be present when applying for every extension. She has to complete a statement and the immigration officer has to sign it along with the applicant. In fact, I am going to extend my visa based on marriage on Monday. I have used the monthly method for years without any issues.
