Tippaporn
The Men They Couldn't Hang with Green Fields Of France off of their '85 Night Of A Thousand Candles debut LP.Well, how do you do, Private William McBride,Do you mind if I sit down here by your graveside? And rest for awhile in the warm summer sun,I've been walking all day, and I'm nearly done. And I see by your gravestone you were only 19When you joined the glorious fallen in 1916,Well, I hope you died quick and I hope you died cleanOr, Willie McBride, was it slow and obscene?Did they Beat the drum slowly, did the play the pipes lowly?Did the rifles fir o'er you as they lowered you down?Did the bugles sound The Last Post in ?Did the pipes play the Flowers of the Forest? And did you leave a wife or a sweetheart behindIn some loyal heart is your memory enshrined? And, though you died back in 1916,To that loyal heart are you forever 19?Or are you a stranger without even a name,Forever enshrined behind some glass pane,In an old photograph, torn and tattered and stained, And fading to yellow in a brown leather frame? The sun's shining down on these green fields of France; The warm wind blows gently, and the red poppies dance. The trenches have vanished long under the plow;No gas and no barbed wire, no guns firing now.But here in this graveyard that's still No Man's LandThe countless white crosses in mute witness standTo man's blind indifference to his fellow man.And a whole generation who were butchered and damned. And I can't help but wonder, no Willie McBride,Do all those who lie here know why they died?Did you really believe them when they told you "The Cause?"Did you really believe that this war would end wars?Well the suffering, the sorrow, the glory, the shameThe killing, the dying, it was all done in vain,For Willie McBride, it all happened again,And again, and again, and again, and again.

I think the humour of my post must of come out all wrong ended. I've been off the thread awhile so I've some catchin' up to do. As I comes to your posting of Pink Floyd's early classic Paintbox and I see there are no reactions I was shocked that you hadn't gotten your average four reactions that you usually garner per post (I've been meaning to ask you how you accomplish such a feat consistently . . . perhaps you have some spare time and can teach me the trick?). It's a great song, after all! Brits are well known for their dry humour and oft times it goes over others' heads. Perhaps my beerwurst and sauerkraut German humour went over yours. No offense, mate.

Sorry, I totally misunderstood your post @Tippaporn, yes your humour did go straight over my head. Having read the post once more I get what you were saying. No offence taken. Nice to have you back in the topic. As for the number of reactions per post, your guess is as good as mine.

Just a couple of more things on my mind. I do have an odd sense of humour. I've been told more than once in my life. But you see, not long after birth my mum dropped me on me head and I've been broken ever since. The doctors tried their best to fix me but, alas, I must make do as best I can with what's still working. Drinking copiously seems to help. The other thing is to fawn some appreciation your way for your musical offerings. You've been a welcome addition and helped take much of the burden off of bannork's broad shoulders (think Atlas) to consistently post quality tunes. Don't tell him that 'cause it'll probably enlarge his head slightly. Don't want him blaming me 'cause he can't fit in the door any longer without having to take the hinges off.
