BANGKOK, Jan 11 (TNA) – The Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) will sell 3.5 million antigen test kits at their cost price of 35 baht per kit.

GPO managing director Witoon Danwiboon said the organization today signed a contract to buy the 3.5 million ATKs from a supplier and the products would be delivered by 1 million kits a week.

Dr Witoon said GPO listed over 100 companies licensed to import ATKs and it could locally call for their bids to supply the products without having to seek permission for ATK import by itself.

"People could buy ATKs via www.gpoplanet.com or at GPO’s drug stores, he said. (TNA)"

And going to the gpoplanet.com website right now, you'll get the following:

They just don't have stock yet, that's all, as that website link clearly says!

It was stated in the OP...

"the organization today signed a contract to buy the 3.5 million ATKs from a supplier and the products would be delivered by 1 million kits a week".

The kits don't magically appear instantly at a contract signing, they have to be delivered!

I would bet money these are Chinese tests that can't detect Omicron.

The ones they're ordering, at least initially, appear to be the nasal type ones that have been shown to be late/slow in detecting Omicron infections -- regardless of what country they've been manufactured in.

See Danderman123's post and link above to the pertinent Reuters news report on the issue of Omicron and nasal vs saliva-based ATK kits.
