webfact
By Natthaphon Sangpolsit KANCHANABURI (NNT) - Authorities apprehended 33 migrants for illegal entry near the Thai-Myanmar border in Kanchanaburi province on Saturday (15 Jan). According to officials, a patrol from the Surasee Task Force discovered an initial group of 19 men and 12 women hiding in the bushes near Nong Pla Duk village in Sai Yok district at around 2:30 PM. A half-hour later, two women were found by another patrol in Song Karia village of Sangkhla Buri district. An initial investigation found that the group was from the Bago and Dawei townships of Myanmar’s Bago and Tanintharyi regions, respectively, and had paid 15,000-20,000 baht each to brokers in their country for jobs in Samut Sakhon, Nakhon Pathom and Bangkok. The 33 were due to be deported back to Myanmar after being processed by local law enforcement in Sai Yok and Sangkhla Buri. -- © Copyright NNT 2022-01-17 - Aetna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. RichardColeman
Another example of making entry to Thailand harder for tourists being shown to be daft

I've yet to see one Thai employer jailed for hiring illegal migrants... Stop the demand, the trafficking stops.

Stop the demand, the trafficking stops. Thailand needs and relies on this work force. Just legalise them, allow them organised and official entry for work purposes. The reality is too much money can be made from the abuse of migrant labourers, from their trafficking over the border, to an underpaid workforce who have no power to protest atrocious working conditions. Popular Post edwinchester
Maybe if the Thai Govt did more to promote a civilian Govt in Burma instead of helping a brutal Junta then the life of the people there would improve and they wouldn't have to seek work outside of their own country. 3

The Thai labour ministry could easily set-up a fast track for migrants to gain suitable employment within Thailand with it's counter-part in Myanmar. Thus negating the trafficking. However being employed in this way will undermine the unscrupulous Thai employers who underpay, over work slave labour.
Enoon
I assume that within in any given area for which data is presented, in this case the province of Kanchanaburi, the interception/capture rate is 10%. On that basis 297 crossed the province border un-intercepted yesterday. = 108,405 per year. X the number of border provinces.............
rudi49jr
You can arrest as many migrants as you want; as long as the people who organize and facilitate these things on the Thai side of the border are left in peace, it will continue. So how about rounding up some of these organizers and facilitators who make (a lot of) money off of this human trafficking? Oh wait, I forgot, they can’t be touched because of all the brown envelopes they distribute, and all the payments they make to the retirement fund of the RTP.

The pot calling the kettle black. How can you ask an unelected soldier posing as a PM to promote a civilian Govt in Burma? Maybe this is a chance for the Thai soldier Govt to act like real politicians and be hypocrites. ????
