Permanent Spouse Visa Info

Featured Replies

My wife has been here since Dec 2005 on temporary spouse visa and we have just submitted our application for permanent spouse Visa .

Can anyone give us an idea on how long it takes for this Visa to be approved ?

My wife was taking to a friend of hers last night and tells me she had her application was approved in 2 weeks , Now wife is not happy as her application has been in for 3 weeks ..

In the papers from Immigration it says the aim to finalise visa within 3 months ..

Anyone with any experience with this Visa application ?

Any info or advice would be appreciated

Regards

Are you posting from Melbourne and did you submit your application there?

If so, most visa applications processed in Oz take about one month before a decision is made. That is the average time assuming that no follow up information is requested from you.

Temporary Spouse visa ???

Permanant Spouse visa ???

Do you mean Temp Resident Visa and Perm Resident visa...which is issued when a Spouse visa application is granted.

If so, there is no need to apply and the Permanant Resident Visa is automatically granted 2 years the person arrives on the Temp Resident Visa.

Perhaps you can provide the number of the form you have lodged.

I beg to differ, there is another interview and evidence of an ongoing relationship is required.

We were notified about 2 months before the anniversary of when we applied for the Spouse or 309 visa.

Dont sweat it get some bills in both names and a few piccies (dont go overboard, I made an album up and they took about 6 from it)

You get the permanent residence then next step is citizen.

My Wife just got Hers last month.

I notice there has been a change of wording on the website

Spouse Temporary Visa (Subclass 309) and Permanent Visa (Subclass 100)

For people from overseas to enter and stay in Australia with their partner, who must be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen. If two years after you apply the spousal relationship is ongoing, a permanent visa may be granted.

I suggest this a new requirement. Previously it said that there was no need to make an application for the permanant visa and you would be notified of the grant.

As to Ronniem's wifes concern with her friends situation....it would seem that if they supplied the info required a few weeks before the anniversary then it would take a few weeks....if you supply the additional info 6 weeks before the anniversary then it will take 6 weeks. It appears to work from the date of application....before, I believe, it worked from the date of arrival.

It would seem that a lot of the forms have been updated since the middle of last year.
