Test & Go (2x RT-PCR)

Recommended Posts

Yes, pcr is 2200b, transport from airport 400b and minimum 500b for 3 meals.
Each hospital might be charging different for pcr, depending on the speed (some charge an additional 2k for 2h frame).
transport from hotel depends on distance.
food depends on quality and on the mark up each hotel has.
it's possible to find the first night from 3800b with just one meal. The second night for the new T&G should be some 500b cheaper, as no transport

My return taxi to the airport from the hotel was 95 baht the food looked like something from 7-11 just cheap ham sandwich and a piece of fruit the best meal was the evening one where I actually got something hot to eat…regarding price of PCR test I don’t know what the price is in Thailand but I guess that was the bulk of the extra pricing

Your numbers result in a cost for airport transport, PCR Test (and meals?) of 3,300 baht.  Could you get them privately for less?

Most hotels pay at least 2,000 THB for the RT-PCR tests (some have to pay even higher due to the hospital partner arrangements).

Transport is included, and some hotels even include breakfast for all days, and 3 meals on the test days (confirm with the hotel).

There are a lot of expenses before the actual room cost, and this is why the rates look high, you're not booking a simple room night.

Hello ThaiVisaCentre, nice website

I see meals are not included, does it mean people can leave the room to go out for Dinner?

or is it necessary to order food in the room?

thanks

For Test & Go it will vary.

On the 1st Day, and the 5th Day you cannot leave the room until the test results arrive.

Many hotels offer included meals because of this, but it is currently not required.

Just make sure to confirm with the hotel if the meals are included.

We launched 5th day packages today:

- 5th Day Test & Go

(1x RT-PCR, 1 Day of stay)

We hope the following packages cover majority of the Test & Go situations, and you can find the best rates, and options for your trip.

Unfortunately your 5th day packages are still very limited geographically. They will probably work for tourists, but a large number of returning Thais and expats will need a place located in, or at least nto too far from, their home province

new rules are the same as the old rules=clear as mud, after all this time Thailand still cannot come up with a simple tourist entry policy, at this rate there will still be website issues and "clarifications" being issued 5 years from now

It will take some time as the Thailand pass does not yet support all provinces either.

Currently the follow provinces are supported:

You can find the hotels which may offer these packages here (if we do not yet support it on AQ.in.th):

https://web.thailandsha.com/shaextraplus?keyword=&province=

We are trying our best to support as many provinces but it is very difficult to onboard the hotels in these new provinces as they have very little experience with new requirements. So for now you may have to manually reach out to them one-by-one until we start to add support. You may also check Agoda as it does have a few of these properties in some of the provinces which we do not yet support.

These seem to be the provinces which have any SHA+Plus hotels, not provinces with hotels that offer Test & Go?  None of the properties listed in Sakeo seem to offer  a Day 5 T&G package, for instance.

Day 5 test must be at an approved hotel.

From the Thailand Pass site. And in Thai for your wife.

The 5th night (as well as the first) needs to be at an SHA Plus + hotel which is approved by the Thailand Pass program (and listed in the drop down menu on their site - 3rd page in on application I think)

Is there a list of hotels in Samut Prakan that support Test & Go?

Which requirements are not clear?

if meals are not included does that mean you can leave for meals? since the individual has been  around in public for 5 days already allowing that would make sense but it  doesnt say if leaving  is allowed

I’m sure the 2nd PCR test will work similar to the way the 1st one does. You take the 2nd PCR test (where and how depends upon the hotel you choose). Once you are swabbed, you will be escorted to your room where you must stay until the test result is received. If the test result is negative, then you can leave your room. And if it is positive, you will be taken somewhere to quarantine for something like 10 days.

You can eat food that you bring with you, order food from the hotel, or just wait for the results. My family didn’t pre-pay for any meals when they did the Test & Go in December. They settled into their rooms at 2:00 AM. By 7:30 AM, their test results were all negative so they all went out for breakfast soon after.

“No battle plan survives contact with the enemy”, Norman Schwarzkopf.  I am arriving Feb 18 and I will stay with the 7 day ASQ package.  This version of the Test and Go(Day 1 and Day 5) is not something I want to be a part of.   I need to go to CNX and at this time I do not see any hotels in CNX for the 5th Day PCR test.  Also, the odds of testing positive on the Day 5 test after “roaming” the big city is probably higher than testing positive on Day Zero.

Some will let you leave after a negative result comes back. None will let you leave before that.

You can order room service or have food delivered from outside.

I think the poster was refering to while you wait for results to come back, ie check in and test and then leave for meals ( or whatever ) and then return to hotel and wait for results.

I would suspect most people would leave the minute they receive a negative result, i know i will be.

ALL will let you leave after negative result, why would n't they?

It has been reported that some do not.

I do not get the impression that hotels have been very well informed of T&G rules.

How on earth can hotels keep you after a negative result, would that not be imprisonment?

That's the whole point, you're controlled until proved negative ( twice ) and then you're free ( likely to get infected - lol ).

Another option to get out of the 5 day test is simply to buy a throw away ticket which shows you leaving after 3 or 4 days, this will:

1. Reduce risk of + test on day 5 and being at the mercy of what happens

2. Offset the cost of the day 1 and day 5 package.

Flights for surrounding countries 4-5000 baht?

Thank you for that website link. Although there currently aren't any SHA Extra+ (a.k.a. SHA Plus+) hotels in Phatthalung listed, there are now a few available in Nakhon Si Thammarat and several available in Songkhla. They are provinces that border Phatthalung to the North and South respectively.

Please note that even-though a hotel may be SHA++ approved some may not actually be offering these packages yet.

So we advise contacting multiple to save time.

Thank you for that advice. Take Songkhla province for example where there are several SHA++ hotels. If I were to arrive in Bangkok, get a ride and PCR test for day 1 from a Bangkok hotel and after a negative result head to Hat Yai, do I simply show up in the lobby of my SHA++ hotel on the 5th day at 4:00 PM to check in and get the 2nd PCR test? Am I just charged for the PCR test and a one night stay? Is that how hotels that offer the 5th day PCR test and one night stay doing it?
