Cha-Am, Thailand-Ex-champions led by hot-shot Sadom Kaewkanjana have confirmed their participation in the Bt3 million Thailand Mixed hosted by TrustGolf due from February 10-13 at the Springfield Royal Country Club in Cha-Am, Petchaburi.

Fresh from snatching his second Asian Tour trophy in Singapore 8 days ago, the 23-year-old from Narathiwat who won the season finale Thailand Mixed at the Aquella Golf and Country Club in December will spearhead the stellar field of entrants including two-time winner Prom Meesawat, the only female winner Arpichaya Yubol and the youngest victor Ramil Saelim, 17, into the season-opening event of the Thailand TrustGolf Tour.

“I used to have a practice round once at the Springfield. It has a good layout and tough greens. However, it’s not a long course and it should suit my game,” said Sadom who beat Wichayapat Sinsrang by two strokes in the previous Thailand Mixed edition in Phang-Nga.

“Even I’m the winner in the last Thailand Mixed, I don’t set the goal to win the next one. I’d rather use this tournament to work on my shots which I will need when I play in overseas tournaments,” added Sadom who bagged a total of five titles in 2021.

Sadom, the current Thai No 1 player, plans to enter the European Tour and PGA Tour Q-School series later this year. He’s determined to improve his driving distance from an average of 290 yards to over 300 before he switches his attention to the two big tours.

“If I can hit further, it will create me more opportunities when I play overseas,” said Sadom who is ranked No 153 in the world, the best position among Thai players this week.
