Replacing the sand in Pool Filters

Hi Guys,

I have two Aster99 Filters, which I would like to replace the sand in.

I have read the "sand issue" thread and am now considering Zeolite or Eco Clear.

It seems to be impossible to find unbiased 3rd party reviews and comparisons.

What have you replaced YOU Pool sand with ?

Does it make sense to mix ? One Filter one compound, the other another compound ?

What's the cost for Zeolite and Eco Clear ?  Where to buy (I am in Pattaya) ?

Attached is the picture of my Pool Filter Model.  I have two of those.

Any advice appreciated!

Both products you mentioned are good and about the same price.

I have used both in many filters, house & pools.

Zeolite for 8 yrs & "Eco Clear" Recycled plate glass for the last 6 yrs. Pattaya based, however we work all over Thailand!

Zeolite can clog up as it is like a minture cage structure. In my experience Eco comes up trumps!

I live in Isaan and replaced my sand with Echo clear glass about a year ago now. Seems to be doing the job better than the sand, but I'm away at the moment. If there would have been problems wifey (holding the fort) would have let me know.

Seems a lot longer between backwashes. I also reduced the hours the pool pump was running (probably shouldn't do that) and pool still clear and no animals or green stuff living in there.

I did notice when removing the filter top that the sand had channeled, so the water was going thfu the channels and not most of the sand.

So as a 3rd party I'm happy with the EchoGlass. ????
