DrJack54
30 day visa exempt entry can be extended by 30 days once per entry. Entering. Thailand July with 30+30 would take you through till sometime in Sept. Good chance by then that some land borders open. If required to extend stay then exit via land border and reenter. I'm currently in CR and wanting to extend for a few more weeks with a US exempt passport - is this process just a fee, or is there any other paperwork involved (photos, bank info, etc)? And do you know if the local office is fine, or would we need to travel to BKK or Chiang Mai...?

You will need a completed TM7 form with a 4X 6 cm photo attached. Copies of you passport photo page, arrival stamp and your TM6 departure card. The fee is 1900 baht. Be aware that in CR there are 2 immigration offices. As I understand it they do extensions on certain days. Yes you can obtain your extension no problem but best check with office if available every day. Edited March 3, 2022 by DrJack54

OK thanks for the clarification here, we'll call ahead of time. We're looking at the one that just south of the airport, do you happen to know if that's the one? Not same extension but has posts about the 2 offices.

Thanks for your help here, I was having trouble tracking down information on what exactly was needed (in English).
