Thai TV without subscribing to True.

I am in central Bangkok.

I have 2 TRUE boxes and GOLD packages simply so that my Thai friend can view Thai 'free to air ' channels.  This is way over the top (2,200 Baht per month)!

Is there a similar service to 'TeatimeTV' for Thai channels?

How do most Thai people view their TV -- surely not all use True.

I have no opportunity of erecting an outside antenna or dish and I don't suppose a wire coat hanger will do these days????.

We did the same, paid thousands a month for years for True satellite TV. Wife these days uses AIS play which has pretty much the same channels as True Gold did apart from it's free. She had to register or something but the app is free and works very well. 

 Also there is LOOX another Thai TV streaming app but it used to freeze a lot so AIS play works better for us.

In central Bangkok an indoor antenna should be acceptable for the Free-to-Air digital terrestrial TV if you have a compatible TV or set-top box (a few 00 Baht).

 

We are 45-50km out and get perfect reception on a cheapo 4 element yagi and 10m of coax which would be quite happy in your home.

 

We sent back TrueVisions several years back, I get my cricket fix on one of the many IPTV services.

If your TV is fairly new, there's a good chance it already has a digital TV tuner built in. If not, DTV boxes are about B500 at any Big-C or Tesco.  They also sell the small antennas needed.  They can be placed inside or outside. Thanks Dave. So cheap (160 Baht at Lazada) I've ordered one to try anyway.
It looks as though times have changed from when I had to stand at strange angles in the living room holding a wire coat hanger.

Thanks Crossy, I've now ordered an antenna (160 Baht) that Dave recommends. Let's see if my area is too congested or not..
