Thailand is now the most searched-for destination in the world on travel giant Agoda’s search engine topping other vaunted travel destinations and signaling a possible return to normalcy following two years of Covid-19 shutdown.

According to the booking giant, Thailand saw nearly a 500 per cent increase in the number of searches-for since the beginning of the year with many looking to travel to the country between March and September.

The news will be a welcome one for Thailand’s ailing travel industry which has been virtually shut down for the past two years due to Covid.

I live here and use AGODA so I would be interested to know how many domestics people are using it versus how many from outside the country.

I use Agoda, Booking.com, and Luxury Escapes to book my trips around Thailand.  Some good bargains can be found as well as including Breakfast or all meals depending on the site.  Then you go to the actual Hotel website and do your due dilligence to ensure the deal is a good one and not cheaper through the hotel booking......

TAT has a guy employed full time to do the searches as back up for their ridiculous estimates.

Searched for doesn't mean booked....

Agoda happens to be the only major booking site that has Test and Go packages. And well done to them for doing this as it is very simple to use them.

I'm pretty sure that's why Thailand has more searches right now. I'd be more interested to know the stats from Booking.com and Expedia.

Oh no haters and bashers wont like this....last nail tourist coffin...everybody gone to Mexico...Tourism dead here blah blah blah

And of course the classic conspiracy, Thai government give big envelope to Agoda Boss ????

All government employees are ordered to use Agoda at least 500 times a day and search something, whatever what.

I have searched thousands of ladies on TC but booked very few.
Does this make TC the leader in Thailand?

I can just see it. All those people searching for Thailand, then reading about Thailand Pass and giving up (going elsewhere).

Trump searching for Taiwan.

Totally beleivable as when you type in ASQ or Test and go Thailand on google, the top booking link is agoda. I have been on at least 50 times in the last month looking at where and when I can stay. Now have my pass {only took 2 days) and arrive on 6th April . If you use agoda you can input their booking reference now on the Thai pass application to save time waiting for confirmation from the hotel . I got my reply from the hotel nearly 22 hours after booking so in this respect the agado booking reference saved me 22 hours on my application.

I like to see mandatory mold testing for hotels and guesthouse. With the score on Agoda.

3 years ago they had the best "search engine" in the world.

Now the so called best compuer programmers have come along with massive salaries & stuffed it all up. Now if you want to book a place in a certain street or location they refuse to even show you

the alternatives on the map. (not even the hotel next door.)

Retrograde step Agoda, you get the commission whichever one I choose.

Stop listening to the guys who are trying to justify their salaries.

Booking.com still show us what is available

Yeah probably true, but when people find out about all the red tape to try and come here they change their mind.

Whats the statistics of searched and booked?

500 searches and 2 bookings probably.

Thailand is clickbait capitol.

I booked a hotel "Once" with Agoda. I think it was The Sunshine Hotel in Soi 7 Pattaya, 15+ years ago.

When I checked in I found out that Agoda didn't include Taxes etc in their quote and I had to pay extra at the desk. Not sure if they still operate this way, but I will never ever use them again or even search on their site.
