Police in Phimai, NE Thailand, could get absolutely no sense from a drunk Vigo pick-up driver.

Some time before he had driven his vehicle into the back of a Vios that had then been propelled into a barrier. Ronnachit said he was lucky to be alive, reported INN.

Kampanat was behind the wheel of the Vigo.

He resisted arrest and dealt out a string of expletives to the cops. Apparently he was the big shot from Saraburi and knew Mr Big himself in these parts.

He also resisted arrest.

Back at the Phimai station the police could get no sense out of the drunk so they called his mother, Somsawat, 68 to pick him up.

She said in mitigation for her son's behavior that he'd been arguing with his wife. He was on his way to see his mum when the accident occurred. She admitted that it appeared he was intoxicated.

After police charged him with DUI, defamation and resisting arrest he was allowed to be carried home.

10,000 baht fine with jail time deferred is usually the outcome.
