Most Thai media were at Bangkok's Khao San Road yesterday - the second day of the Songkran festival, the new year in Thailand.

This followed scenes on Wednesday when foreign and Thai tourists engaged in water fights contrary to regulations.

Thai Rath said that the police and district authorities were determined to stop tourists playing with water as it represented a chance for Covid-19 spread.

Phra Nakhon district official Wasan Bunmeunwai went to the tourist street with Chana Songkram station policemen as both ends of the street were tightly monitored.

Crowds gathered and people were checked for mask wearing and to make sure they had no water guns.

Daily News reported that late last night Lt-Gen Torsak Sukwimol and met chief Lt-Gen Samran Nuanma were in Khao San Road to ensure their crackdown was effective.

Siam Rath reported no water guns were allowed - they had a picture of a large number of local officials lined up ready for action.

Easily fixed! Just for then to use real bullets against water. That would probably work as a possible stop to the infants water wars.

Surprised they didn't roll out the riot control vehicles...

There is that good old racism cropping up again.  Never let a chance go by to farang bash.  Puts the so called Thai bashing by certain posters here into perspective.

"What did he say?"

"I think he said welcome to Thailand."

Anutin: That's how you do a gun control. America need to learn from Thailand the way they abolished gun use.

Can you see the "International press".

Daily Mail: "thai police confiscated 256 (water) GUNS from tourists."

Racism? Farang bashing? I thought the article says both Thai and foreign tourists.

Scapegoating, bullying and extorting a few young foreigners wanting to have a good time is hardly doing their job.

The law is the law in Thailand? ????

Well I am pleased that they are enforcing the rules

Don't mind young kids   throwing water but not drunken tourists or Thais

It's the  time of year I tend to stay away from places usually involved

In the water spraying ect

There is always next year when the Corivirus  virus is ended or most of the population have been vaccinated

People can carry on the Songkran tradition of water spraying

Apparently the CCSA announced the water-splashing ban last month.

To be fair tourists could be the locals from Nakon Nowhere visiting relatives in Bangkok. But  I do think the BiB have in mind us lighter skinned chaps when they say tourists.

"Apparently"?

Either they did, or they didn't.

And is that really a "law"? Please feel free to point us towards the statute.

And this was conveyed to thais and foreigners how exactly?

(Yes, I know there is a continuing Emergency Decree which give the authorities unlimited power.)

The last I heard the PM said there would be designated areas for water splashing.

So if it starts to rain on Khao San Road & tourists dance in the street does it too represent a chance for covid to spread?

Also if this "playing with water represented a chance for Covid-19 spread"

is the reasoning why are swimming pools open?

My bad, I should never mix reasoning with Thai law ????

Can you quote just one actual current example of any of that?

Extortion?  What?

They did.   The emergency decree that is still in force covers the Covid-related regulations and restrictions.   Please feel free to research it yourself.

Last night at the local "body to body massage shop", I told her not to splash to much if not, the cops come in.
