Treasury takes over controversial housing project at Chiang Mai’s Doi Suthep

What HAD BEEN AGREED in circa August 2018 between the Chiang Mai provincial administration and the civic group network regarding the DS project was that the housing units and nine-unit condo building MUST be returned to the Treasury as quick as possible. I believe that and court facilities would remain without any agreement.

Meanwhile the Office of the Judicial Affairs would ask the Agricultural Technique Department for new land to be developed for the residential and office facilities for the Region 5 Appeals Court.

So only now the transfer has occurred and without any land restoration?

Note that this whole dispute about the subject development was the byproduct of the military's sole ownership of the property and its ow  determination by seemingly unilateral proclamation that such land use by the Appeals Court was environmentally compliant and that land transfer was beyond the authority of the Executive Branch of government. Thus, public disclosure, debate (political bribary of the judiciary?) and environmental review wouldn't apply.

Sad to say, this debacle is not over.

controversial housing project is located at the foot of Doi Suthep mountain

It is a blot on the landscape and IMO involved brown envelopes from Day 1. Housing for the top judiciary - need I say more!! This is what you may see when flying into Chiang Mai Airport:-
