I will believe it when I see it. Thailand has consistently 'flip flopped' its decisions all through this pandemic and shows just how incompetent the people in charge are.   As use as a choco

So we’re going from unvaccinated tourists having to quarantine to unvaccinated tourists being completely barred from entry? What kind of bs is this?

Thailand Pass needs to be completely cancelled as well as any other entry restrictions especially as owing war in Europe and inflationary pressures including near 100% increase in air fares far fewer Europeans have the desire or money to travel long haul plus no Chinese or Russians this year.

I think we covered this yesterday with Anutin's proclamation on the issue... Just another lackey spouting the same thing... hoping for an easier way to control the masses while trying to divide us.

Am I the only one sick of mandates and governments' trying to control us?

Erm, it is an announcement about doing away with restrictions...........but that's the government controlling us, righty ho.

And how many of the Thai population have received 3 doses? - Visitors to Thailand are at more risk catching C19 here, than transmitting to the Thai populous.

Scrap the whole TP and Vaccine Passport idea.

I'm not so worried about the summer. But come winter and the problem will be back many times over.

They just don't learn their lessons do they?

Tourism minister suggests replacing ‘Thailand Pass’ with ‘Vaccine Passport’

Thai Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn said yesterday (Wednesday) that he will ask the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) at its next meeting to consider replacing the “Thailand Pass” with a Vaccine Passport, to facilitate entry to Thailand by overseas tourists.

Without elaborating, Phiphat said that a Vaccine Passport would be used with the requirement for arriving tourists to fill up the Tor Mor 6 (TM6) immigration form.

He claimed that he raised the idea of a Vaccine Passport with Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul at their meeting yesterday and that Anutin agreed to it, adding that he hopes the proposed Vaccine Passport will become effective in June when, he said, COVID-19 Omicron variant infections are expected to drop.

Phiphat quoted Anutin as saying that, if the “Thailand Pass” is to be scrapped, tourists who are to visit Thailand must have received at least three doses of vaccine.

IMHO the world doesn't care about Thailand or the general.

I mean heavens forbid that you could just show your vaccination credential on arrival. Not that it even matters.

Guess 3 Sinovac shots over a year ago means you're all set!

This is just pure garbage at this point.

You miss my meaning , the business world is indeed  present here in Thailand .

And them foreign  businesses do indeed exert pressure on the Thai government as they employ many people and pay taxes.

Hotel owners , car manufacturers etc.

World business does indeed care about Thailand.

This insurance non sense (scam) needs to end now! I am about to enter Thailand for the 4th time since November. While the insurance requirements have been reduced, the price keeps increasing. I purchased the AXA insurance each time. The December policy was for 25 days while the rest were for 15 days.

November 2021 - 1,540 Baht

December 2021 - 2,250 Baht

March 2022 - 1,750 Baht

May 2022 - 2,450 Baht

The policy ThaiPass is pushing is cheaper but needs a 14 day waiting period or covid test 72 hours prior to effective date. Ridiculous.

For entry next week I only need it for 10 days. Any suggestions on a policy? Like the past policies, I have zero intention of using it.

OINT.... Only IN Thailand!

This is a bit confusing because there is another post in the news section saying it will stay. So which is it?

June 1st Endemic to all restrictions!

Vaccine passports are a terrible idea. Scrap all requirements and open up. Vax passports offer nothing except more red tape and unnecessary government control. Mandates of any kind should end immediately.

The insurance requirement was $100,000 and they are dropping it to $10,000.  But the cost to purchase these fake insurance policies from Thai providers go up.  You pay more but get less.  And there are a ton of stories out there of people coming down with covid and the insurance company avoiding paying out.  It’s a great scam, I’m not sure they will be scrapping this.  Too much money is being made.

Not really. Foreign business just like Thai businesses are here to make a profit. If a foreign business can make a better profit in the longer term they will move to a safer and more democratic country, one which is more stable as that is better for business.

Thailand used to make a large amount of its GDP, perhaps 15 to 2-% as a rough figure, from tourism. It used to employ literally millions of people from girls working in bars, massage, right down to the child selling flowers in the bar. Most of which is gone now.

Wil it ever come back? Perhaps but slowly and in patches, but I don't think it will ever get back to what it was, especially under the current government.

They just can not break away from overbearing restriction on foreigners no matter what.

They have undermined the whole of the tourist industry for the last 2.5 years using the excuse that they are trying to prevent the Thais from getting Covid whilst targeting a country for tourists where the population who work in the factories and can afford to take holidays is currently awash with Covid and entire cities of more than 25,000,000 are being forced into lockdown, no other country that I am aware of is currently using lockdown , only China.

Only China knows which Covid variant it is, but one thing you can be sure of, it is not Omicron, because that does not necessitate lockdown.

Yes the Government can say it is the same for everybody regarding amount of vaccines one has but the Chinese are using a vaccine that has been scientifically proven to be largely less than useless and transmission rates are sky high. So why target them??

The logic simply does not add up, unlessI am missing something..

Worse part is that the vaccine is not actually required. You can also take a PCR 72 hours in advance, or you can do 5 days quarantine. All ridiculous.

They have done a good job of protecting themselves by not saying which year this will happen

Might I suggest that one way to reduce the workload on Immigration staff is to make a 90 day Tourist Visa good for 90 days and not 60 days with the necessity for tourists to waste a day at Immigration to get a 30 day extension. This achieves absolutely nothing, other than extra inconvenience and work for everybody. Many tourists who would otherwise spend their money for another month in Thailand simply move on to other nearby countries and spend it there instead.

And another non-sense ????

Johnson is one shot.

Booster is 3 month after last shot i think.

Recovered need only one extra shot right now.

And what the point between scrapping TP and increasing the mandatory shots ?...

To say the least...

You  lose protection months after,  get your quarterly boosters like a good boy.

True, these soldiers are nothing more than a bunch of poorly educated illiterates, only ruling this country backed up by guns.
