I'm sure as transportation gets organised again and people start to think about a vacation, visiting relatives and family will be on the priority list rather than pure holidays. bkk6060
Thailand is certainly not "dead forever." Just wait until China opens up with all the suppression they have endeared, I bet many try to move here permanently. This time next year I bet Intl tourists are over 2 million a month. ikke1959
I am planning a trip to Europe, but I don't know when.. So many tourists apparently are planning a holiday now because the summer holidays are coming....again nothing concrete....planning, expect, estimate, believed, etc words that are used in Thailand a lot but don't reflect the reality

What is this supposed to mean? Little to nothing. Of course planning is up. Of course travel is up. When you come up from nothing to something, you are going to see an increase. It means nothing. Now, if you want to get real, and be truthful, you will compare numbers to pre-covid levels. However, it always seems to be about the art of deception. In Full Agreement
Tourism is up? Tell that to the countless business owners whose business is boarded up.

I would like to see schools open, no quarantine, no insurance requirement or Thai pass, longer opening hours for shops and bars and the restaurant scam for bars no longer necessary. (Perhaps there the mask requirement needs to be eliminated first). I am of the opinion if Thais around me are still concerned and wearing masks, I will do the same. China vaccine is rubbish, Omicron is not that bad, but it's bad enough to seriously impact their population, and they are brainwashed that Covid is the very devil incarnate, sent from America! It's going to take some mental gymnastics on their part to rush forth, even when the borders there ever open. And did I say their vaccine is ineffective against Omicron? So triple vax 1.4 billion people with mRNA clone vaccine, or weld their doors shut. I wish the CCP best of luck with that. They're about to either implode, or start a distracting foreign war. Either way, Goodbye CCP. It's the beginning of the end for them, unless they wake up and seriously alter course, which is impossible. I don't deny the Science, but the science also says Covid is here forever, and we already have vaccines and now pills, to at least get on top of it in developed nations. Let's assume tho it kills off the very poorest, who re-use masks till they fall apart, share rooms, don't practice fastidious hand washing, are not even vaccinated. What happens when this pool of labour dies off over the next five years? Our only hope is that Covid breeds itself into a less lethal common strain in order to perpetuate its own existence. If it doesn't, it will do to humanity what the meteor did to dinosaurs. Also, what happens when the next as yet unknown bug arrives on the scene? What happens if smallpox escapes from cold storage? But I digress. At what point, if ever, do we ditch the masks? The global rules now are ridiculous to say the least! We either wear them everywhere, and shut down all restaurants forever, and ban eating and drinking on planes, or we don't! I believe the best way forward is to socialise humanity to wear a mask when knowingly unwell with ANY respiratory illness, and make mask dispensers cheap and ubiquitous worldwide. The biggest hurdle though is getting humans to comply with this etiquette, and dramatically lift their hand-hygiene game in general. So back to the original dilemma then; when is it ever gonna end?
