The EU handed over a patrol boat to help boost fisheries crimes suppression, as the authorities continue to crackdown on the illegal activities.

The handover ceremony was held on the morning of May 4, with the participation of Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and Carmen Moreno, Ambassador of the European Union to Cambodia. Has Sareth, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and Mithona Phu Thong, Governor of Koh Kong, also joined in the ceremony.

The patrol boat was donated under the EU grant of CAPFISH-Capture, which also included concrete boxes for artificial shelters for the fish. The European Union (EU) has provided funding for projects to promote sustainable agriculture and the environment of the fisheries and livestock sub-sectors from 2013 to 2018. These projects have contributed to the growth of the agricultural sector, focusing on the development of the fisheries and production sub-sectors.
