Thailand and Japan to Push for Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand and Japan have agreed to strengthen their partnership in areas such as diplomacy, security and economic cooperation.

 

According to Thai government spokesperson Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, the agreement was reached during a meeting between Thai Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. During the meeting, Gen Prayut proposed that relations be elevated to a comprehensive Strategic Partnership to commemorate the 10th anniversary of their strategic partnership and the 135th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Kishida agreed with the proposal and reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to forging closer ties with Thailand at all levels.

Both leaders discussed important issues such as the development of a five-year joint strategic plan for the Thailand-Japan Strategic Economic Partnership and post-pandemic recovery efforts, as well as strengthening defense, security and judicial cooperation. Both sides also agreed to enhance technical cooperation to develop areas such as the Mekong sub-region and responses to regional and international situations.

 

Gen Prayut reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to work with Japan in putting the outcome of this visit into action for the benefit of both nations and the wider region.

Please invest heavily in Thailand, we have thousands of unemployed service sector workers who are looking for a salary.

Discourage Japanese companies from pulling out and going to bordering nations, in fact we welcome companies to come and set-up in our new S.E economic facility which lays empty.
