TV anchor, 3 ex-‘Yellow Shirt’ leaders face one year in prison over 2008 protests

Thai TV news anchor Anchalee Paireerak and three former leaders of the now defunct People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD), better known as the “Yellow Shirt”, protest group are facing a year in prison, without suspension, after the Appeals Court today (Tuesday) upheld a lower court’s verdict, over their roles in violent 2008 protests.

BANGKOK, May 10 (TNA) – Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha is scheduled to visit Washington D.C. during May 12-13 upon an invitation of U.S. President Joe Biden to attend the 2nd ASEAN-U.S. Special Summit, said Government Spokesperson Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana.

Thailand’s Consumer Confidence Index hits lowest in eight months

The Consumer Confidence Index in Thailand has dropped to the lowest level in the past eight months due to the higher cost of living and fuel prices, the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce’s economic forecasting center reported today, May 10th.
