A monitor lizard was found in a large water pump in Bangkok’s Bang Khen district yesterday (Wednesday), disrupting its operation and that of three more in adjacent areas and leaving them unable to pump floodwater away during the heavy showers which have been falling since Tuesday night.

Bang Khen district was one of the hardest hit by flooding yesterday.

The four water pumps developed trouble late Tuesday night, automatically switching off every 15 minutes and restarting again repeatedly. The pumps drain water from Ram Intra Soi 5, the Amarin housing estate and nearby areas into a canal in the area.

Someone forgot to fit a protective grill at the input and output pipes.

No I think you misunderstood. The lizard was put in charge of pump maintenance by the lazy bar stewards, so as the pumps failed they can now blame the lizard.????

Saboteur?

Blaming dumb animals is a bit rich... dumb politicians and administrators and poor construction of course!

Change that to the whole country and you'd have my support.

That’s why the call it Amazing Thailand as nothing ceases to Amaze Me ????????????????????

Monitor or maintenance , 1 monitor effects 4 pumps .

you know one day a sardine has blockked the harbour of Marseille.

Excuses! Excuses!

As the experts say, monitors are attracted to water. So when designing the pump, one would expect the engineers to anticipate this and make them monitor proof!

Blame something, anything than accept they are clueless and inept corner cutters and nearly everything they attempt.

I was in Bangkok last year (Chatuchak), walking down to Big C, crossing over a little bridge the gf points to one of these lizards. OMG, It looked like a crocodile, it was huge, I can understand why the water pumps are failing, getting a small crocodile stuck in there would stop the flow.
