kingkenny
I am not sure the visa is relevant, the payment of Social Security would be relevant. Other than that I would expect the payment to be the same for treatment as a Thai would pay assuming there isn't double pricing there.

Patients in government hospitals have to pay whatever they are billed for. With no other parameters that could affect costs, there are no guidelines for treatment prices. As a previous reply stated, the visa is irrelevant.
Popular Post Sheryl
As above - your visa type is irrelevant, long stay expats and tourists pay the same, which is full out of pocket price. There are no discounts based on visa. Usually this is same as what a Thai who is self-pay is charged, but some hospitals - mainly in Bangkok, Pattaya and other areas where there are enough expats to make it worth their while to set up - have dual pricing structure. There are 2 situations where an expat could be treated free of charge (or for nominal charge) like a Thai: 1. Married to a Thai civil servant (the Civil Service SS scheme extends to spouses and dependents). 2. Covered under regular Thai Social Security (employed, or retired after employment and kept up the payments) and treated in their nominated hospital As to what treatment will cost, depends entirely on what it is, whether the hospital has a dual pricing policy for foreigners, and also on whether regular public channel is used or the "after hours" semi-private channel (which is usually well worth the added cost IMO). Simple doctor consultation, not counting medications or tests, usually 50 baht through public channel, 250 - 500 through "after hours" clinic (250 in most provinces, 500 in Bangkok). Note that this is NOT to see the same doctor, in public channel your contacts will be with interns and residents in training, through after hours clinic you can see the senior doctors directly. Hospitalization not involving specialized surgery or ICU stay, usually well under 100k. Involving specialized surgery and/or ICU stay, anywhere from 100k - 1 million or more. 2
