Travelling Via Qatar

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I will be flying Qatar Airways to Europe next month and will have a couple of hours to spend in Doha. As I haven't been there before, I thought I might hop into town for a while. But I am a bit confused with regards to immigration: various sites seem to give different info. Would I get a stamp on arrival, like in the UAE, or would I have to buy a visa on arrival? - bearing in mind that my visit will only be a couple of hours. I have a Dutch passport.

Any info is much appreciated.

Hi,

Cant help with the immigration issues really but i believe there very tight, I was there in febuary and, the qatar flights were very good, although we had to go through an extra immigration checkpoint simply to get into the airport.

The airport is very small and you will not be able to change your currency once there, they also do not accept other currencies, so if you do get out of the airport make sure you have some local cash!

Good luck

Mark

You can get a visa a tourist visa at the airport. It's a relatively painless operation as few people stop off there, so the counters should be free. Qatar Airways are very good, you should enjoy flying with them. Doha isn't as interesting as Manama, Abu Dhabi, or Dubai (in my opinion) but it's worth a look. You will have to pay for the visa, I can't remember how much it is, around $30 I think.
