edwinchester
My local main dealer is quoting over 19k bht for replacing the cam belt on my 2.5 Triton which seems high to me. Any recent experience from anyone who has had theirs replaced recently re the cost? Thanks.
In Full Agreement
The cost quote from the dealer is reasonable but have you checked with independent mechanics?
transam
19,000bht for a belt change at 100,000km, wow, my Toyota Vigo was I think 6000bht at 150,000km. Thankfully the new 'Vigo', the Revo, has a timing chain... It seems on your ride the belt is a pain to access and replace, hence the cost. 2
Ralf001
In 2013 a 2.5 belt change was 9.5k. https://aseannow.com/topic/640368-timing-belt-change-mitsubishi/ 1 1

The price will not have doubled in 9 years. I'd ask for a cost breakdown.

Richard 2020
I only know the prices in Europe for the 2.0 L Changing the timing belt on the Mitsubishi L 200 costs about 730 € and 1005 €. Just for reference !
edwinchester
Thanks very much for all the replies. After reading the post above about it costing 9500bht in 2013 I checked through my service book and found it cost just over 9k 7 years ago which is why I was surprised that it's more than double that now. I'll try and find a good independent to see what they're charging I think.

In 2019 I paid 16k for the timing belt change, 100k service and to fix an oil leak - from a local Mitsu main dealer and I queried every cost before I agreed. From memory originally it was more. I also had a thread on here where many people chipped in with advice.......In the end I decided not to take any chances as no real recs for an independent service that I could trust. If the OP has had it done before you have presumably done another 100k kms?

Test drove both and preferred the Mitsu at the time. I have been very happy with it apart from that which I was unaware of at the time of purchase.
