Pattaya — Five million Indian tourists are expected to visit Pattaya by the year’s-end while Russian and Chinese tourists are diminishing due to domestic affairs, the Tourism Authority of Thailand says.

The director of the Pattaya Tourism Authority of Thailand Mr. Kajondej Apichart-trakul revealed yesterday, June 7th, that the tourism situation in Pattaya has improved by a large margin since the country’s reopening to tourists and the Test and Go program’s removal. Business operators in Pattaya, he said, were conducting business with international agencies and tour operators who wanted to bring their customers to Pattaya as it was a globally known vacation spot located only one hour away from the airport.

Pattaya City, according to the director, had been ready for reopening to tourists since last year in 2021.

That's about 50 full A340s a day arriving from India, with everyone arriving going to Pattaya!   The famous TAT calculator's batteries must have worn out in making this calculation!

I don’t think so.

I believe it maybe even more, after the men get back home and tell their buddies about all the wonderful massages they had here.

Upon photo scrutiny I would say water, pepsi and plastic cups came from 7-11 across the street along with coffee cups.

AT 2 baht each which their scams are averaging that is 10 million baht of gold going somewhere. That's 152 Tonne of gold those Indians are bringing, and losing into Thailand. So Forget whatever else these people spend then at the current price of gold they are contributing so much to the local black economy ( as they claim they are stolen )  Thailand need these visitors.

Just under 2 million Indians visited full year 2019. 5 million seems ambitious especially since they only started arriving in April. Still at least they are the only mass international market kickstarting the tourist revival in Pattaya. I see Alcazar opened the other day and they were the largest number of customers.

Great news.

Yet, only a week ago, only half a million were expected:

Southern end of 2nd road will be turned from continuous construction site to hanging place of Indian male groups then.

Currently the wandering groups of 2-10 Indians males is a nuisance and danger as they walk in middle of the road, without even giving a glimpse to car or motorbike traffic.

7-11 in ground floor of nova platinum hotel will be thriving!

TAT launched a marketing campaign in India, seems like a great success. They must have spread word about the easy opportunity for necklace theft, with good quality police reports proven to work with insurance companies!

Win-win for thailand and gold loosing indian tourists. Not so for Indian travel insurers.

Ladyboys will be beside themselves all those gold necklaces wow

How will the pavements cope with so many gangs of all male, poor people wandering about looking for somewhere not to spend money?

Revenue for Thailand from Indian tourists totalled $2.6 billion in 2019.

Good to see workers benefitting from the reopening of the Nova Platinum hotel and the surrounding businesses. That area and second road in general was completely shuttered during Covid. Agree with you the ongoing construction completely blights that area with little end in sight.

Is that solely from the gold necklaces they left behind ?

Well $ denotes dollars not baht so guess that should give you a clue.  However it was not stated whether it was US/Aus or other dollars

"Five million Indian tourists are expected to visit Pattaya by the end of 2022...".

"Five million Indian wives sue for divorce the beginning of 2023...".

"Apu, what happened to the gold necklace I gave you?" is frequently heard...

Yes i saw that but it does get mixed up a lot.

since we are in Thailand maybe i expected it to be in Thai Baht.

So that is around 44000 baht each, makes sense that way.

The Ministry of Tourism summary stats show both Baht and the US $ equivalent. The AVERAGE spend worked out a bit lower at 40,800 baht per trip.

I saw them arriving by the busload to a hotel on soi 8 yesterday.

That works out at £1000 per head......hardly the big spenders are they?

No need for changes. No need for learning, or progressing, and no need to make any sacrifices. No need to scrap the pass or the insurance requirements. Why change anything? We are the center of the known universe, and everyone wants to visit. All we have to do is open our doors, and millions will rush in.

Are they all bringing 85,000 b necklaces

Five million Indian tourists are expected to visit Pattaya by the end of 2022,

And each one of them will be wearing a gold chain & have insomnia, with the pressing need to walk around and engage in conversation with the third sex between the hours of 2am --4am.......................:w00t:
