What is the fair price for premium cannabis in Thailand?

What is the fair price for premium buds in Thailand? 

 

California has a legal weed market, and top grade buds are $USD 6-7/gram - so less that 250 baht per gram.

 

Cost of production; 

• California's minimum wage is about 4,000 baht/day - most workers earn more. Those wages are paid to all of the workers in the marijuana production, distribution, and retail supply chain.
• California land and rental prices are some of the highest in the world
• California taxes the heck out of all the Marijuana businesses involved in the production and supply chain, plus adds a per pound tax on harvested plants and a per ounce tax on retail weed.
• The licensing process in California is expensive and takes a long time

 

Thailand's cost of production;

• Thailand's minimum wage is 10% of that in California
• Thailand's land and rental prices are significantly less than California to say the least
• Thailand doesn't currently have any special taxes or licensing on Marijuana (ya that might change soon but it's unlikely to be huge)

 

So if California can produce top quality buds at 250 baht per gram - what's the right price in Thailand?

I'd say 150-200bht/gm would be a reasonable price.

I equate drinking 2 large beers (or 3 wine coolers) to 0.5gm of smoked weed.

 

So would place the maximum price per gram for weed at 4 large beers.

Medicinal use of both obviously, not recreational.

Agree - with the much lower cost of production for wages, taxes, and land that puts fair retail cost here around 70 baht/gram.  The retail shops targeting farangs and charging 400-600/gram are really taking advantage of the moment. I for one won't forget it ????

Yeah, the going rate where I am is 300-450 depending on quality. Pretty much the same as my home country.

I can't believe that since it is now legal to buy and sell the plants, including their flowers and the local markets are selling them. 

 

There's also stalls popping up everywhere in malls selling cured buds.

Well everyone can brag but that's not the point is it? Some people who never bought pot in the kingdom are now looking to get on, so until the market catches up they may be willing to pay more. 

  If you wanted to be helpful instead of talking it up you could just share where you get your buds from. 

  I would share my contacts but they sure af don't have a line group.

Absolute bs. The cost is nothing to open a shop and you don't need a license to sell apparently. Well at least according to this video....

I noticed that a ganja FB page in Thai has sprung up.  A lot of young Thais, including students, are offering product for sale and delivery at prices far less than the dispensaries.  I have seen 3,500 for a kilo brick of pressed weed and loose joint offered at 30 baht for regular and 100 baht for premiumfancy grade.

Agree before legalization you payed 450-700 thb a G for medium to good weed.

Yes, brick week you could easily get for 1,000 thb 100g but poor quality.

 

so it went about 100thb down since legalization but the farmers that had stock have all waiting lists now.

 

in my opinion 500-600 thb for good quality weed is a fair market price for online shops at the moment and that will probably still go down as soon the supply catches up.
