It's just a lobby to the government by the mask manufacturers as they have millions stockpiled ????

Please keep mask mandate for a few more years. Bought several 100 of them by mistake.

so falang, u no like like, u go home and no mask for falang.   up to you

Where do we send the Thais who don't wear masks though? The gulag?

If masks were no longer required, people would be more comfortable, the fear would diminish, protests would start again, and the extreme displeasure with the goons that 97% feel, would be expressed.

So, the creeps feel that by keeping this mandate, it is easier for them to hold onto power. That is all this is. With the daily cases so low this has very little to do with the health and safety of the people.

At the same time, they are sabotaging any hope of a tourism recovery. Who wants to come to one of the few countries still mandating the use of masks? Not many. If they cared about the science, they would have suggested immediate removal of masks outdoors. But, fear is a very effective tool, for keeping the masses pacified.

I will no longer be wearing a mask outdoors. Science denial by adults is not an appealing trait...

I have stopped wearing a mask outdoors as of June 15th, the date they originally promised. Enough is enough.

With the daily cases so low, there is no reason to wear a mask outdoors anymore, other than to keep the people scared and uncomfortable.

I'm comfortable in wearing them now and would feel naked outdoors without one on.

I will be wearing one outdoors if the mandate is lifted or not.

Have you not noticed the pollution excrement that collects on the outside of your mask that the mask has stopped going into your lungs?

I agree a lot of people look better with a mask than without,

I've ended up with some right mingers over the last 2 years.

Whatever, I stopped wearing mask 2 years ago...only to get into 7/11 and shopping malls because they don't let you if you don't...

Some of the Thai people have embraced the mask with passion and will keep wearing them forever.  There's even a Thai women in my neighborhood that still walks with a shield (like that ever did any good). But no one else walks with a mask in the morning walk.   I'm okay with wearing a mask in stores, but it will be really nice when I can have a conversation with a clerk without both of us wearing masks and talking through a plexiglass shield.

If people want to wear a mask forever, I'm okay with that.  But it's time to let the rest of us make a choice too.  It's all about control.  That is very obvious.  And probably the big companies that have invested in them.

I'm trying to make sense of allowing venues to open until 2am, but not later.

I know it's an old chestnut but does covid wake up early?

It's CONTROL. nothing else. No real purpose to it otherwise.

Stopped wearing the mask some time ago, of course not when shopping. Many folks meanwhile walk around with no masks.

Exactly. Just another example of the government policy of removing Thailand from the tourist market. I know of three people who will not be coming here as long as the wearing of masks outdoors is demanded. It's beyond ridiculous.

Freudian slip.

It's absolutely a social measure. It reminds everyone who is in charge and suppresses individuality, leaning more towards a collective notion of 'the greater good'. It also promotes the paternalistic style of governance that this mob in charge love so much, whilst providing the wearer the feeling of being a good, compliant little citizen a bit like a certain colour of shirt did a few years back.

Anutin frequently doesn't wear one, which also serves to remind that he is above the law and doesn't have to wear his slave mask if he doesn't want to.

I’ve been in the UK for a few weeks now and it took a while to get used to not wearing a mask. I’m returning to Thailand next week, and I will not be wearing one outside. I’ve complied completely with the rule for two years, but enough is enough.

we can still pretend we  ARE DOCTORS !!!!

This is important as expected when a leader suggest wear one while having sex then you know mask will continue! ????

the wearing of face masks in public will not be lifted outright

I wonder how long it will take the "establishment" to hold Masked Balls as in Medieval times????

Would have thought they would give out a notice say for instance in 3 months the wearing of the face masks will be relaxed  in certain ares

That would give time for the shops storing the boxes of masks time to reduce their stock Holdings and not lose money ????

Don't they understand that even if/when it is lifted, many Thais will still wear the stupid masks, and I reckon quite a lot of businesses will force or encourage staff and customers to, as well. It's not as if all of a sudden everyone will stop wearing (and more importantly buying) them.

someone is getting rich from PPE...any particular ministers come to mind

Does wearing a mask bother you so much. Just a piece of cloth over part of your face and it may save you and others lives. Is this your political expression. Meant no malice but personally think you should complied to local rules. At some point in the near future, it will be lifted.

You were just some seconds quicker saying that. What social purpose should it serve ? Something like "we all wear the same cap because we are all of the same united group", just like they do it in Japan and China ?

Thais, and most Asians, have a different set of values to Westerners.

This is what determines different cultures.

I prefer Thais to have a community spirit rather than the 'personal freedom' the Yanks strive and woke culture.

Civil disobedience in the face of science denial and oppression, may be the only answer.

Yes, I will not be wearing a mask indoors because of safety, but rather to avoid scaring the locals into having heart attacks. Outdoors, is a completely different matter.

It is not about my politics, but rather theirs. Civil disobedience is a great thing, when faced with politically motivated oppression, and extremely dumb "local rules". Please share some scientific proof of the benefits of wearing masks outdoors, or on a motorbike, if you can. Bet you cannot.

Being in a foreign land does not mean one has to give up all rights, common sense, and be a lemming. Being in a foreign land does not mean I have to comply with ridiculous policy, that has nothing to do with science, and everything to do with fear, oppression, and the greed of a highly corrupt administration, utterly desperate to cling to power.

yes, the paranoia in the thais is still quite strong. I still see quite of few double masked outside.

I went maskless outdoors this week, and I have experienced more than a few thais sharply veering away from me as far as possible when they notice I am not masked.
