BANGKOK, (TNA) – Amid the rising price of cooking gas, the Ministry of Energy recommends people use heat efficiency charcoal stoves and there is more demand for such products.

Heat from such improved charcoal stoves is 29% higher than that from conventional charcoal stoves. Besides, they are slimmer and lighter, consume 30-40% less charcoal and can help reduce the consumption of cooking gas.

Dubbed “millionaire stoves”, such improved charcoal stoves are retailed at 250-400 baht apiece via physical stores and online shops.

So  having people going about chopping trees and bushes down and burning  them is going to be good for the environment? Tried using one for a bit of  BBQ recently, too small.

At least the trees and bushes will grow back, re-sequestering the CO₂ produced by the charcoal.

Try one of these for 125 Bt plus shipping:  Lazada - เตาปิ้งย่าง BBQ เตาปิ้งย่างพกพา พับได้ น้ำหนักเบา เตาบาร์บีคิว เตาย่าง เตาปิ้ง เตาบาร์บีคิว เตาย่างบาร์บิคิว เตาย่างใช้ถ่าน เตาถ่านชารโคล Camping Grill Portable Grill BBQ Barbecue รุ่น BBQ Eco HomeHuk โฮมฮัก

Lazada has a wide variety, ranging from this cheap one to ones that cost nearly as much as a new car ????. Just search their site for, "bbq grill charcoal".

Gas grills also available if you would rather they drilled holes in the Earth, carelessly dumping the hazardous waste from this process in an unsafe way, and adding more CO₂ to the atmosphere with no chance of re-sequestering it unless they plant additional trees and bushes.

Never understood any eco friendly idea of cutting trees down ... for ANYTHING, especially as a substitute for plastic product / bags.

And talk as they will, I'll never believe trees can be replenished as fast as they are cut & used up.  Production of tree sourced products is not always an eco friendly process.

They are not designed to be a BBQ. Used with a brass cooking plate, there are very efficient and long lasting. We had a take away package from the Thai French Beef restaurant recently and had a great family home cook off.

New , improved charcoal stove ....... looks like the same one the wife bought over

20 years ago , never used it for years, she will have to get it out again and save

some money .........????   waste of time setting it up for frying egg and bacon , but

it worked good for cooking a big pan of stuff that has to simmer for a long time.

P.S. what's the betting charcoal has gone up in price too

ßloody things.......half the village already cook on them.....god knows what the kids lungs are being exposed to.

The wife often uses one for doing any grilling of fish or steaming rice ,with ours they are  hardly any smoke,  maybe just a bit for a few minutes when she lights it.

I would say some of your villagers do not know how to light one ,they use a heap of grass lots of smoke,or a piece of motorcycle  inertube, black smoke and smells ,use kiderling, small sticks ,no smoke ,or very little ,once they are lit and going no smoke .

As for the price of 250-400 baht that is expensive,I got a bigger one from our local shop for 200 baht ,and I can  replace the shelf in the stove which does burn out ,these you  can not .

Since thy usually come with a griddle, and I see them used with one, that doesn't make sense.
