I've been noticing that the moderators here have a tendency to simply go in and erase certain posts without notifying the poster of any violation of TOS.

Just curious what the explanation is. ????

Moderators usually leave a public notice that a post has been removed.  If the original poster has been notified either by PM or a warning, a notice may not be posted.  If the original post is quoted, those posts are removed.
