Daily News Thai Caption: Jap chai was the reason

 

Daily News reported on the latest online "drama" after a female customer went on a Facebook page that translates as "We are the customers".

 

Comment was rife on the story after the woman explained how she had ordered the mixed vegetable dish jap chai and asked for a bowl too.

 

They sent an old plastic bowl that had been used before, not a new one.

 

She asked other netizens what they thought. 

 

She said she couldn't accept that. Though she acknowledged that the food was only ten baht for the dish in a plastic bag with ten baht extra for rice. She said it was 2 am and nothing else was available.

 

She felt that she should have been given a new bowl having asked for one. If they had sent nothing at all she would have been ok with that. At the least the "rider" (delivery guy) should have been told and explained.

 

She accepted that times were tough and overheads high.

 

Onliners were split in their opinions, said Daily News. Half said she was right but the other half criticized her for being picky.

When she eats at restaurants does she expect brand new plates, bowls, flatware also?

Yes well; i never accept Restaurant food on or in Cracked and Chipped Plates or Bowls or Stained Plactic Bowls that look like they should have been replaced five years ago and have been in places where they complain to me i am too 'picky'.   I don't care what other people think; when Dining Equipment is sub-standard and possibly unhealthy i'm not going to sit there like a Brainwashed Thai and accept it !

If you don't eat from filthy plates at home your certainly not going to from a commercial establishment.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say your meals aren't 10b each like the lady in the OP, right?

It seems to be a regional obsession to avoid using anything that belongs to yourself, instead using every single plastic utensil/container you can ponce off the shop/restaurant/stall holder in order to simply throw it into the nearest bush, or as close to a bin (without actually getting it in the bin) as possible.

So people think it’s ok to get a raggedy used bowl.  Just because the food is only 10 baht. 
Let’s use an example that a lot of people here will understand better. 
Let’s say you went to a bar or wherever for your cheap beer.  And the mug or glass you were given had smudges and chips all over it.  I bet you would be flipping out over that. 
 

 

Next time charge her 20 Bht more for a NEW bowl (non refundable)

Here's something that you may understand, the bowl didn't have smudges and chips all over it.

Let's get this real clear. A bar serves you on the premises. You sitting on  your arris at home should be eating your take away meal in the container provided. Not trying to score free crockery of a <deleted>n business. Who you kidding?
