Two pro-democracy activists face two-month imprisonment for participating in ‘#SaveWanchalearm’

Two pro-democracy activists, Parit “Penguin” Chiwarak and Jutatip “Ua” Sirikhan, were sentenced to a two-month imprisonment and a fine of 10,000 baht by the Pathumwan District Court yesterday, July 12th, for attending the “#SaveWanchalearm” activity at the Bangkok Art and Cultural Center (BACC) in June 2020.

 

According to the verdict, the protest leaders had violated Section 9 of the Emergency Decree to prevent the spread of Covid-19 Coronavirus by participating in the large gathering on June 5th, 2020.

 

Additionally, Juthathip is charged for disobeying an officer’s order by failing to stamp her fingerprints on the allegation hearing day.
