Oops, OMG, what a cluster. No wide load signs, no escort vehicles, no red flags, no traffic control...shall I continue.

  • Now, when you are driving on thai roads, you must stay vigilant to look left-right-behind-front…and UP!

  • Somchais in the air and on the road

Slippery roads, Sat Nav failure, micro sleep?

Misunderstanding...

Does this surprise anyone? Anyone at all? Is there anything that Thais can organise properly, apart from raiding an occasional pub to stop people having a beer after hours?

I've had to catch a helicopter once a month for years in many countries, including Thailand.

It's always a scary trip, what makes it worse is you're buckled up for the trip, no going to the toilet, no alcohol.

Angola was a 3 hour journey.

You can't think, worry about things you can't control, failures, Incompetence.

You got to put those thoughts elsewhere.

Over the years, been quite a few choppers go down in the north sea.

No, I don't think so, it had crash landed and was now cut into two pieces for transporting, don't think there is any plan to repair it.

Yes, continue.  Was it a "wide load", did it need "Wide Load" signs, why would it need red flags?  How do you know that it wasn't being escorted and what traffic control do you know was necessary?

The amulets whoever  had them  on had another lucky day then

Then at the weekend the stricken helicopter was loaded onto an army trailer for a trip to the central region and repairs at an army facility in Lopburi.

Now that sounds worrying. Truck or Helicopter ?

It's obvious the bad spirits are still in control, lottery numbers coming soon. ????

Thais should not be allowed to drive anything faster than a buffalo.

The reason you don't see many buffalo in Thailand anymore is not due to farm machinery replacing them but because the buffalo were slowly got killed-off in road accidents....some buffalo accident pile-ups at intersections were horrific.....tough beef all over the road! ????

I thought they had protected status judging by the number of vet bills being paid by farangs almost monthly?

Yes.. you forgot the number-1 cause of road incidents in LOS… wet’n’slippy roads!

Look on the bright side:

it is probably write off - crash landing and then cutting them in half at the crash site tends to do that to helicopters!

There will have to be a budget allocated to fund a replacement.

There is probably a Mercedes in there somewhere...

Speed and Angles, left.

Safety is still a foriegn concept to most Thais, especially road and electrical safety.  Driving on Thai roads is pretty much a free-for-all and intersections can be especially dangerous due to red light running.

And their "Me first attitude" dooes'nt help

This Black Hawk was probably a write-off before the road collision. The second Royal Thai Army Black Hawk crash since the type entered service in Thailand in late 2002. The first crash in around 2005 was fatal. Overall, not a bad safety record for the Black Hawk squadron. 15 (now 14?) examples of this type in service, with another 9 ex US Army UH-60s on order.

Can't drive can't fly how are we going to win the war

In the UK last year I was out for a walk and I had to cross next to a roundabout. I looked to my right before I crossed to the centre Island as that's where the traffic would be coming. Just a I was about to step into the road I glanced to my right and saw a van coming the wrong way and stopped just in time.

I put that down to living here and looking everywhere.

Just noticed that should read 'I glanced to my left'. It's age you know.
