On November 21st, 2019, tens of thousands of Catholics gathered at Supachalasai National Stadium to welcome Pope Francis during his historical visit to Thailand. Excitement and joy filled the air as the large crowd patiently waited to welcome their Pope and join in the papal mass. For the younger generation, it was the first time they had ever seen any pope in person since the nation’s first ever apostolic visit took place thirty-five years ago.

Klang Hospital’s wards full of COVID-19 patients, anti-viral drugs still being provided

The 8-bed ICU for severe COVID-19 cases requiring ventilators and the 30-bed cohort ward at the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA)’s General Hospital, also known as Klang Hospital, is now fully occupied, but the hospital is still providing medical services to asymptomatic COVID-19 out-patients and patients with mild symptoms, according to the hospital’s director, Dr. Kutcharin Jiamsripong.

Phuket international arrival passengers improve 45 percent after Thailand Pass cancelled

More than 20,000 passengers arrive at the Phuket International Airport per day now since the Thailand Pass was canceled and border restrictions were lifted in recent months.

Car speeds past drug checkpoint and crashes, three people injured

A car reportedly sped past a drug checkpoint in the Mueang Chonburi District and crashed into a guardrail. All three men in the car sustained minor injuries and were void of drugs, but police believed they threw them away while escaping.

Mayor orders documentation of footpath, billboard, and public utility issues around Pattaya

Pattaya mayor Poramese Ngampiches recently formed a task force of 68 officials to examine and document several city issues, mainly those concerning footpaths, billboards, and public utilities, before taking action within one month.

Anutin challenged for decriminalisation of cannabis ahead of appropriate legislation

Thailand’s Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul was accused today (Tuesday), by the Opposition, of deliberately creating a “legal vacuum” in Thailand, in which there is no law to enable control of the use of cannabis, hemp or their extracts following their decriminalisation last month.

Customers take off their masks the most when at entertainment venues

The Department of Health Service Support revealed its online survey today, indicating that customers in entertainment places tend to remove their masks the most, with less than 1 percent not wearing them at all.
