Man collapses and stops breathing – Foreign Police Volunteers come to the rescue

The life of an Englishman was saved by Foreign Police Volunteers on duty at Pattaya Police Station.

In very dramatic circumstances mouth-to-mouth technique was applied to bring the man back to life after he had stopped breathing. This action shows the level of professionalism and high qualifications of the Foreign Police Volunteer group, all of them have a highly professional background in foreign police forces, army etc.

On Friday 15th June at about 21.00pm Mr. Geoffrey John Joiner, an English citizen came into Pattaya Police Station with his Thai wife after having a minor traffic accident involving a motorcycle colliding with the back of his car.

He gave the police the details about the accident in a police report and then approached the counter of the FPV (Foreign Police Volunteers) at the station. Here he expressed that he was worried because he felt he as a foreigner did not have any rights in Thailand and he was afraid what would happen to him. About half an hour later the FPV was alerted by the man’s wife that he had fainted where he was sitting in the police station. He was laid down on the seats and water was given to him by the FPV to try to cool him down.

The man then asked one of the FPV to take him to the toilet as he was feeling unwell again; while in the toilet he collapsed and stopped breathing and one FPV administered the “kiss of life”. He regained consciousness and an ambulance was called and took him to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital nearby in Central Pattaya. Later, after receiving excellent professional treatment he was transferred to the Pattaya International Hospital on Mr. Joiner’s insistence as his medical records were kept there.

After seeing his regular doctor, Mr. Joiner felt he was getting better and was released one hour later to return home.

Further, on Wednesday the 20th June at 2.00pm at the Pattaya Police Station, Mr. Joiner met up with the two Foreign Police Volunteers, Mr. Simon Humphries from Kent and Mr. Stephen Bolton from Yorkshire together with Pattaya Police Superintendent, Colonel Suthin Suppuang to say thank you and show his deep appreciation for what they did for him.
