Seventeen teens arrested after explosive devices were thrown at rivals in Pathum Thani

Naew Na Thai Caption: 17 young people arrested for throwing explosives at rival group - face 7 charges

 

Naew Na reported on the aftermath of gang violence in Pathum Thani north of the Thai capital Bangkok.

 

The media reported that on three occasions explosions were heard in Soi Thammasuthee 23, Moo 5, in Muang district.

 

The first was on 29th December last year when police did very little except warn a couple of riders and take their details.

 

The second was not reported to the police.

 

The third was the latest time on July 19th at 1.25 am. Clear CCTV imagery exists of the events that unfolded last week. 

 

This showed up to 25 motorcycles with around 50 riders and pillion passengers.

 

Police discovered who was responsible and announced 17 arrests. They have all admitted to 7 charges.

 

This included carrying and being in the possession of explosive devices.

 

Those arrested were aged between 15 and 19.

Swords and other weaponry was taken into evidence along with the clothes and helmets worn by the gang. 

 

Seized motorcycles with the names of the rival gangs on them - Goldfish Flats and The Sam Khok Mob - were also featured in the Naew Na story.
