New shops flowering everyday, is it true that they don't have any license or any company ? They just open the weed shops as they open a grocery shop ?

 

This is what I have been told, and after checking, it seems that people who sell weed are not controlled yet ? can you confirm ?

If the law was clear and truly unrestricted CP and other large corporations would be selling buds in 7-11 already.  As soon as things get clarified I'd expect big corporations to dominate the mainstream bud market.

 

It would be nice to see small shops selling artisan buds from small scale producers. The best would be weekly farmers markets where growers sell their weed directly.  I hope somebody's organizing that already.

I'm sure there will be plenty of both but I don't like the idea of the big corporations moving in, although I  guess its inevitable

I suspect what we are currently seeing is a flexing of muscles to see who gets the profit here. The police, I'm sure, will be keen to be in charge of 'licensing'. 

 

The hospitals, too, smell money, hence the noise they are making. None of it is about public health of course.

In the future there will probably be a few big rich families or corporations in the country running their monopoly. Similar to the beer monopolies. 

 

Licenses will be made much harder to get.

And sellers will only be permitted to buy from designated suppliers (in the name of health and safety of course)

As the edict was only issued yesterday there is still some confusion...

 

But it seems like you'll need to register to 'process' and sell Cannabis. I think the fee is ~ 3,000 THB, maybe another 1,000 THB for something related.

 

One Thai person said the process was easy, maybe 20 days for approvals.

 

I think this will apply to both online and brick/mortar.

 

Some talk of allowing online ordering and mesenger fulfillment (done now, "informally" of course), but that's not been fully defined.

 

Oh I see that Coconuts article. Explains a lot, esp. why some dispensaries closed a few weeks ago.

Who knows when they might enforce this requirement? For now that's been delayed.

 

Some smaller growers are banding together to file for one license.
