Areas to avoid when travelling around the Philippines

Recommended Posts

Terrorism is perhaps the largest threat to tourist safety in the Philippines and continues to be an ongoing problem.

The whole of the far south is a no-go zone: the areas of Mindanao, the Sulu Archipelago, and the Zamboanga Peninsula are all considered extremely dangerous, and travelers are advised to stay away.

As far as cities Manila is one of the least safe cities in the world.

The areas of Makati that are completely safe day or night are Greenbelt, Ayala, Rockwell, as well as North Makati Avenue.

Everywhere else in the city you should practice extreme vigilance.

If you do find yourself in a dangerous situation, unfortunately, you cannot rely on the police.

What should I avoid in the Philippines?

When traveling to the Philippines, here are some of the things you should avoid:

Don't insult the country or its people.

Don't disrespect your elders.

Don't use first names to address someone older.

Don't show much of your valuable things in public.

Don't get offended too easily.

Don't go without prior research.

In 2019, the homicide rate for the Philippines was 4.4 cases per 100,000 population. Though Philippine's homicide rate fluctuated substantially in recent years, it tended to increase from 2000 - 2019 period ending at 4.4 cases per 100,000 population in 2019.

That said in a recent 2022 Safety Index, the Philippines ranked the 59th Safest country out of 142 countries, above Canada (60), the United Kingdom (63), Australia (75), and the United States (86).

So, if you want to book a great holiday then Coron is a safe and tourist-friendly mountainous island sitting at the tip of the Palawan region.

It is also one of the most favorite domestic destinations among solo travelers, foreigners, and celebrities.

The place is also recognized by many blogs, vlogs, and even magazines as one of the world's top diving sites.
