BANGKOK (NNT) - Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has informed the US Charg? d’Affaires, Michael Heath, that the Thai government will support and collaborate with the incoming US envoy to improve bilateral relations.

Heath, whose term in Thailand had ended, visited Government House on Wednesday (August 10) to bid farewell to Gen Prayut.

During the meeting, the prime minister thanked the US Charg? d’Affaires for his active involvement in strengthening relations between Thailand and the United States, particularly in economic cooperation.

Gen Prayut expressed confidence that the incoming charg? d’affaires will continue the mission begun by Heath and deepen bilateral ties, adding that the Thai government would cooperate closely with the new US representative.

Heath, in return, praised the Thai government for its continued collaboration with the United States in the areas of the economy, public health, and education, which has enabled US entrepreneurs to continue conducting business in Thailand during the Covid-19 outbreak.

The prime minister told the US diplomat that Thailand is ready to host US President Joe Biden during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) conference, which will be held in Bangkok from November 16 to 18.
