Scott
Last month, just as record-setting heat waves scorched the U.K. and parts of Europe, some 60 million Americans experienced a string of hot and humid days that topped 100 degrees. Prepare for more of these extremes. New research and an accompanying planning tool show that across the U.S., on average, the local hottest 7 days are expected to become the hottest 18 days by 2053. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/a-quarter-of-the-u-s-will-fall-inside-an-extreme-heat-belt-here-are-the-states-in-the-red-zone-11660568349?siteid=yhoof2
Popular Post KhunLA
I worked outdoors in month long 37-39°C at Memphis, TN, USA. Don't think 40°C, that extra 1°C would make much of a difference in the next 100 yrs. 2
alex8912
Pretty good mild article compared to many out there. I wonder what the number of coldest days will be?

Alot of money buying huge sea-level beachfront mansions. Says it all to me. Nobody drops $25m on a seafront estate that their own predictions show will soon be underwater. If the weather is hot in the summer drink more iced water, stay out of the sun, limit exertion, same as we used to do all those years ago when it was just called a heat-wave. Bkk Brian
"Out of sight, out of mind" Fast-warming, ailing Med Sea may be a sign of things to come From Barcelona to Tel Aviv, scientists say they are witnessing exceptional temperature hikes ranging from 3 degrees Celsius (5.4 Fahrenheit) to 5 degrees Celsius (9 Fahrenheit) above the norm for this time of year. Water temperatures have regularly exceeded 30 C (86 F) on some days. Extreme heat in Europe and other countries around the Mediterranean has grabbed headlines this summer, but the rising sea temperature is largely out of sight and out of mind. https://apnews.com/article/science-middle-east-barcelona-oceans-3d4284afffcea80ace340b32c9de7543
