Need assistance. Not getting any from godaddy. Their ticket system seems down....

I uploaded pages, those blue ones, I think you call them htm pages? by hitting the upload button in File Manager located in the control panel several times. After 30 min or so that was done. I checked and my site is still not on the World Wide Web. Any advise ? I am an amateur, it's my first time I am doing this, and it's a nightmare.......

I use godaddy.com, sometimes my site is updated immediately after I push "upload", however sometimes it can take 12 + hours. I think they actually state on their site that it may take up to 24 hours. Keep checking, I have not had a problem as yet.

godaddy.com has the most aggressive advertising in the U.S., that's probably why the OP chose them. They have good, cheap hosting pretty much. You'll definitely get assitance from godaddy if you call them.

I agree with seykota. Technically, they say it can take up to 24 hours I believe. So, you may need to wait. Just make sure you're doing everything correctly. If nothing is there in 2 days, give them a call or try again.

Allright.... so, I need to wait. I thought it was instant. I am so clueless. Thanks guys: now I know!

JimJim, I chose godaddy becuase I had previously been ripped off by a hosting company called 3ix.org. They promised assistance. They said yes to all my questions related to the use of their templates. I paid the hosting fee. But when I tried to edit, remove or add button in the menu, I wasn't able to. I wrote 10 e-mails asking for advice; no response, not a single response. So now, I chose one of the biggest in the world, I figured, they won't be as cheap as 3ix.org and try to rip me off.

Never had to wait after uploading pages to my account with Godaddy, have done that in the last two days without a problem, I use FlashFXP.

It may be a case of your Thai ISP's cache not updating the page. Try holding down the SHIFT key and clicking reload/refresh.

True ADSL has deficiencies being able to detect updated web pages on various sites. Pressing refresh on your browser does not help at all. It can take hours, even days for it to finally recognize there is newer content. I suspect True is doing overly aggressive caching to cut down their operating costs at the expense of users not being able to necessarily see up to date content. It is most frustrating when it is a news site which constantly needs the updated content or your own web site you updated and want to check it out. In those cases I switch to VPN and magically the up to date web site content is displayed every time. Other things you can try as work arounds is to call up the page without the www or by IP address.

Godaddy I believe is the worlds largest hosting company and there are a lot of good reasons for that. Not only are the packages huge and cheap, they also have less than 5 minute wait times when calling them for support.

Hi Flow,

3ix offer 24x7 instant live chat support from their homepage or through ticket system which is responded in 30-60 minutes, the 3ix team work hard to offer a reliable service at an affordable price and now serve more than 30,000 clients worldwide.

There is no direct email to support (it's via the ticket system) where exactly did you email?

If you have a support ticket number then please let me know it and I will investigate the matter further,

As you are no longer using our service you may be able to get a refund of the fees you have paid, please PM me your site name and I will check, 3ix offer a no quibble 30-day money back guarantee.

Regards

James

Forget it you know. What's 700 Baht for 6 months. It's more than 8 months ago. But, I did get ripped off, I can guarantee you that. You know it. I e-mailed support, I e-mailed in numerous tickets through 3ix.org's system shortly after discovering that your templates were unusable, but everything to no avail. The fact is, the buttons in the templates you offer could not be edited nor could they be removed. Had I known this I would not have signed up with 3ix.org. The fact is, you know that the templates are useless and you're just continueing on selling them to unsuspecting customers. I have read many complaints all over the internet about 3ix.org so, I am not alone. Good luck to you and your company!!!

Back to the subject.

Godaddy told me that I needed to remove all the files and change them into a .php ending since I have linux (whatever that means). Some pages show, some pages don't show on the site. And all the pictures and logos have vanished. I am getting tired of this. I designed the site with Frontpage and now I get all these headaches. Tried to use a template from another Hosting company, 8 months ago, but realized that they were just after ripping off poeple, because the buttons in the menu were neither removable nor editable, and now I am stuck again..... ###### it. Can anyone recommend a good Thai web company that does not overcharge foreigners and offer a decent no bull service for uploading and showing me how to upload files onto godaddy.com???

Thanks

Below, the reply from godaddy:

"""Unfortunately, it appears that the .htaccess file that you have loaded onto the server appears to be causing the problem with our pages not being displayed. You will need to remove the file and correct it before reuploading it to the server."""

What kind of website are you trying to have here? There may be simpler solutions for you than coding it from scratch.

I think you need to educate yourself more instead of bashing hosting companies and if you want to use a Windows based tool such as Front Page for uploading a web site on to a Linux based web server, make sure that the Front Page extensions are enabled.

You're absolutely right, I need to educate myself more when comes to website stuff. As I explained earlier, this Hosting company promised editable/removable buttons in their templates if I'd sign up with them, plus money back guaranteed if unhappy. I was very unhappy, and sent them several e-mails and several tickets, politely asking them for a refund (700 Baht). To my horror, none of the e-mails or tickets were replied to. They simply chose to ignore me for whatever reason. God, glad, I cleared that up...

Back to the subject: yes, I did enable the Frontpage extensions but still nothing...

Cheers

Would a content management system like Joomla, Wordpress, or similar be better for you?

Best option as cdnvic mentioned. I had use frontpage like many years ago but i now run three websites using Joomla. Free and easy. Depending on what you are using your website for, there are many options on Open Source softwares out there. If GoDaddy is as good as everyone perceives them to be, then they must have options on your control panel that can install these Content Managements Systems for you. Or a Blog, or a Wiki, or a Photo Gallery :o. Best of luck!

Oh Yeah you could check to see if GoDaddy has an active forum and seek help of other users on that hosting.
