'The future is here.' Migrants step off buses from Texas into New York homeless shelters By Ray Sanchez, CNN

Asylum seekers arrived to New York City's Port Authority station by the busload last month.

(CNN)Jessica Flores stepped out of the Port Authority Bus Terminal with her husband and their 6-year-old daughter into the unfamiliar heart of Manhattan, where giant billboards sparkled under a sweltering late summer sun.

The sidewalks and traffic lanes along bustling Eighth Avenue were packed when the family emerged carrying plastic bags with all their belongings. Visitors, homeless people and commuters clutching cups of iced coffee crammed the street. Nearby, pedestrians dodged yellow cabs, double-decker tour buses and electric bicycles.

Could this practice of forcing people onto to buses and shipping them off to other states qualify as kidnapping/human trafficking?  Ok, they are immigrants (or new arrivals), but they are not livestock herded off on a cattle drive.

Of course, the anti-everything crowd will be screaming bloody murder when these people don't show up for their immigration hearing because nobody knew how to contact them.  Texas is not taking due diligence with the reporting requirements.

It's the same thing that happened with the kids in cages.  The gov't is still looking for the parents of over 400 of them.

Your excuse for them not showing up for their hearing is laughable.

Most of them don't show up anyway.  The "kids in cages" has been going on since the Obama administration.  Hey, if you don't want your kids to be in cages, perhaps don't try to enter another country illegally...

You are wrong and your information is false:

Evidence Shows That Most Immigrants Appear for Immigration Court Hearings

Irrefutable evidence shows that over the past two decades the majority of immigrants have shown up for immigration court hearings. Rates of appearance increase when people have legal representation, calling into question the logic of detaining people in prison-like conditions when representation is a viable alternative to ensure court appearances.

https://www.vera.org/publications/immigrant-court-appearance-fact-sheet

And here are a couple of other sources:

https://www.statesman.com/story/news/politics/politifact/2022/05/19/fact-check-people-attending-their-immigration-court-hearings/9823253002/

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/06/26/how-many-migrants-show-up-immigration-court-hearings/

But now, many of them will never receive notice of when or where their hearing is.  Not a particularly smart move to put them on buses if you are really interested in immigration laws and reforms, is it?

Another lame false equivalence. The kids in cage during Obama's tenure were not kids who had been separated from their parents by the U.S. administration, as was the policy by the Trump administration. They were kids who were without their parents, and it was a temporary solution until a foster family was found.

Now answer.  You have no facilities for "families"  You only have detention facilities for Men, and Women.  What do you do?  Do you put the small children with the adult women and men or do you separate them for THEIR SAFETY.

Make decisions without analysing consequences and without anticipating how to effectively apply them....

That's what morons like Trump usually do.

Another proof of his level of incompetence.

More than 1 million illegal crossings of the US-Mexico border will have been attempted over the first seven months of 2021,

Keep those buses rolling. San Francisco would be another liberal hell hole and sanctuary city that should be getting their fair share of the border crossers.

C'mon Mr President, do your job and secure our borders.

Oh but your biden is starting the wall again, first he stops it, then he sees he made a huge blunder and now he's quietly starting to build again.

He did authorized building barriers of four wide gaps of Trump's wall in Southern Arizonal for safety reason. The barriers wil better protect imigrants slipping down a slope and drown while walking through that low section of the Colorado River. It was also not done quietly as it was widely reported in the news media and that's how I knew about it.

Record straight I have no use for Biden.

I agree completely. Families should not have been separated.  Rather, they should have been kept together and bussed back across the border to Mexico.

Should include that in Greg Abbott's migrant busing program.

Not a bad idea, I will let the Governor know that you approve.

Parents commit crimes and get arrested and jailed thousands of times each day, all across America. Their children are not rounded up and put in jail with them. They are separated.

Parent goes to jail; children maybe go to other family members, maybe get collected and processed by Child Protective Services. [CPS]

The one thing that doesn't happen virtually ever is............... the children stay with their jailed parents!

The kind of separation of children and parents that was being done at the border is THE NORM for what happens with law-breaking parents and their children, not an exception! It's what happens each and every day in America (and pretty much everywhere else in the world!)

What happened at the border was the story got HIGHLIGHTED with dramatic pictures and sad stories............. while completely ignoring the fact that virtually the same story happens daily, in cities all across the country! Parents get caught committing crimes............. then are forcibly  separated from their children!

--------------

The drama wasn't in the incident. There is literally nothing unusual about it! The drama came from how it was EMPAHSISlZED. It was EMPHASIZED knowing full well that people would react emotionally and irrationally.......... completely overlooking how NORMAL those events are, probably occurring regularly right there in their own home town!

Yes, there are better ways to do it, and poorer ways. And the border stories showed us that bigger, difficult-to-manage numbers may inevitably lead in doing things in poorer, less appealing ways.

But that's what happens when you get inundated, isn't it? You scrabble to do what you can.......... because there simply is not enough time and resource......... in that moment......... to do all the things you want to do? (And, of course, when you're struggling to manage............ THAT'S when some yahoo comes along and snaps his photos! Murphy's Law!)

From what I saw, there was some fair criticism of what was being done. But mostly what I saw was UNFAIR criticism by people who seemed to have great passion........ (some real, but much feigned!).......... but who ultimately had no effin clue what they were talking about!

---------------

Simply put............. If you're not kicking and screaming about how jailed criminals get separated from their children each and every day in America, right there in your own home town............. then whatever gnashing and crying you're doing about how people have been treated at the border.......... rings terribly, terribly false!

----------------

Law-breakers get separated from their children when they get caught. That's just how it is! ............That's how it has always been. That's how it should continue to be!

And if you're a parent who doesn't  want that to happen?............  simple.......... don't commit the crimes that lead to it!

You may be right on the general principle.

However, before a policy decision is made, competent people make impact analyses and make sure they are able to apply the decision, I.e. implement procedures, resources, etc...

Of course, with the orange moron, that was not the case. Trump only cared about being able to brag about it in the media. No procedures and resources planned, no place to put the children, infants and toddlers left without care, no system to keep track of family members in order to be able to reunite them, etc...

Another example of Trump's dumbness and incompetence.

Many of the parents were in fact deported quickly after their arrival.  Their children weren't.   You cannot deport someone to a country that is not their home country.   Many, if not most, of the people crossing the border are not Mexican nationals.   Mexico has agreed to allow them to stay, pending the resolution of their immigration case.

There are a lot of ways to approach a problem.  Separating the children was about the poorest.
