Could this practice of forcing people onto to buses and shipping them off to other states qualify as kidnapping/human trafficking?  Ok, they are immigrants (or new arrivals), but they are not livestock herded off on a cattle drive.

No one is being "forced" to go. They are being offered the opportunity, which many are glad to accept. (Turns out, the buses are getting them much closer to where they wanted to be, anyway. Except this way, they're getting there for free!)

Of course, the anti-everything crowd will be screaming bloody murder when these people don't show up for their immigration hearing because nobody knew how to contact them.  Texas is not taking due diligence with the reporting requirements.   

 

It's the same thing that happened with the kids in cages.  The gov't is still looking for the parents of over 400 of them.

The kids in cage during Obama's tenure were not kids who had been separated from their parents by the U.S. administration, as was the policy by the Trump administration. They were kids who were without their parents, and it was a temporary solution until a foster family was found.

It seems you like to post misinformation.   Obama did not have a policy to remove children from their parents.  Trump did.  Unaccompanied minor children who crossed the border were held in detention for up to 72 hours.  They are then transferred to HHS for placement in an appropriate child care facility, foster home or a sponsor.  Sponsors are usually designated family members who are legally eligible to be a caretaker.   Children must have a legal guardian.  It's the law.   

 

What Trump did, and make no mistake, it was the most horrendous decision of his administration, was to take children from their parents.   The basis of our legal and cultural system is the family unit.  Great efforts are made to preserve the family unit.  That extends through every state and under federal laws and regulations.  

 

There was never a need to remove children en masse from their parents.  Thousands of children were separated and never reunited with their families.  Interestingly, the cost of their care, most of which went to facilities run by Trump cronies, was over $800 per day, that's $24,800 per month and just shy of $300,000 per year.  

 

The Biden administration has put in a great deal of effort (and money) in finding the parents of these children in order to reunite them.  As of now, there are just shy of 200 of the over 5,000 that they have not been able to reunite.   The Trump administration never kept records of what children belonged to what parents and the cases were handled independently.  That meant that well most of the parents were eventually admitted to the US, they had no idea where their children were.  For those who were deported, the children remained in the US.   

 

Did the zero tolerance policy work?  It did not.  All it did was destroy families and make for huge costs to the US and the admission of many, many children who would have been removed with their parents.  

 

It is beyond belief that any decent person could support such a policy or the man who implemented it.

He did authorized building barriers of four wide gaps of Trump's wall in Southern Arizonal for safety reason. The barriers wil better protect imigrants slipping down a slope and drown while walking through that low section of the Colorado River. It was also not done quietly as it was widely reported in the news media and that's how I knew about it.

Parents commit crimes and get arrested and jailed thousands of times each day, all across America. Their children are not rounded up and put in jail with them. They are separated.

However, before a policy decision is made, competent people make impact analyses and make sure they are able to apply the decision, I.e. implement procedures, resources, etc...

Many of the parents were in fact deported quickly after their arrival.  Their children weren't.   You cannot deport someone to a country that is not their home country.   Many, if not most, of the people crossing the border are not Mexican nationals.   Mexico has agreed to allow them to stay, pending the resolution of their immigration case.   

 

There are a lot of ways to approach a problem.  Separating the children was about the poorest.
