‘Thailand Travelution 2022’ event to help drive Thai tourism industry’s digital transformation

Event on 18-19 November, 2022, will focus on the importance of strategic tourism data and application of technology to take Thai tourism industry to greater heights.

 

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in cooperation with the Phuket Tourist Association and the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA), has announced that the ‘Thailand Travelution 2022’ event – which will focus on the importance of using technology and the insight of Big Data to help drive the Thai tourism industry’s digital transformation – will be held on 18-19 November, 2022, at the CentralWorld complex in Bangkok.


Present at the press launch of the Thailand Travelution 2022 event on 7 September, 2022, were H.E. Mr. Chaiwut Thanakmanusorn, Minister of Digital Economy and Society; Mr. Khampol Ouitayakul, Secretary of the Minister of Tourism and Sports; Mr. Nithee Seeprae, TAT Deputy Governor for Digitalisation, Research and Development, and Mr. Poomkit Raktae Ngam, Strategic Advisor for the Phuket Tourism Business Association.

 

Mr. Nithee Seeprae, TAT Deputy Governor for Digitalisation, Research and Development, said “The Thailand Travelution 2022 event aims to move the Thai tourism industry ever closer towards full digital transformation by recognising the importance of using strategic insights and applying tourism technology to drive the kingdom’s tourism business to greater heights. The event will gather both modern tourist trends and encourage the creation of commercial areas in tourism technology, and at the same time seek to stimulate and publicise entrepreneurs and start-ups in the tourism sector.”

 

Thailand Travelution 2022 will consist of three main parts:

 

Part 1 – Hackathon will feature competitive activities to find the best ideas to develop tourism innovations by using data from the ‘Tourism Data Intelligence Sandbox’ to develop new services and thus increase the ability to compete at the international level.

 

Part 2 – Tech Talk will see invited experts and tourism industry professionals, as well as Unicorn Tech Start-up from all over Thailand covering such areas as airlines, hotels, insurance, and payments share their ideas and visions.

 

Part 3 – Travel Tech Exhibition will showcase more than 100 tourism innovations from entrepreneurs in tourism technology, hardware, the metaverse, AI, and Big Data, and provide business matching opportunities between innovators and tourism operators.

 

Thailand Travelution 2022 will also promote reiterate the importance of Phuket as a pilot area for the Tourism Data Intelligence Sandbox through which will be created tourism data intelligence that relevant agencies and entrepreneurs, both small and large, can analyse to form marketing strategies.

 

In addition, the Government Big Data Institute and the Thai Meteorological Department have signed an agreement for the development of the Tourism Data Intelligence Sandbox.

They're trying to polish a turd. Let the shops open unencumbered as before and this "travelution" nonense will become moot.

So the digital revolution will enable folks to travel to Thailand and vist the country without even leaving there homes, visit shops, buy trinkets and enjoy a wonderful time viewed through VR Glasses.  The reality of Total Recall will soon be available coming to a VR shop near you.

Bad press such as despicable tuk-tuk drivers recently and  poor value for money with artificial inflated currency as it trys to keep pace with the $ .. not to mention the appalling railway infrastructure ....
