The first ‘Blue Dolphin’ ferry for a Pattaya – Samui route has been officially launched on Saturday, September 10th, with a test run.

‘The Blue Dolphin’ ferry, operated by the Seahorse Ferry, can accommodate up to 200 private cars and 586 passengers with a total of 15 rooms, with five room types.  A one-way trip takes approximately about 13 hours.

The ferry is described as being more like a cruise ship than a ferry boat, boasting seating options ranging from an entry level reclining seat, to a capsule bed, all the way to first class private quarters that look practically like a hotel room.

Prices for the different seats, beds, and room types but it is believed that rooms will be somewhere around the 3,000 THB mark for the overnight journey.

The ferry boat also does not skimp on facilities, with a restaurant, spa and massage services, and a variety of nightlife entertainment options.  Like a cruise liner, the boat is fully fitted with a bar, karaoke bar, and a disco.

Transporting a car or motorbike is easy as well, as the ship boasts two levels of car parking.

The test run departed Pattaya on Friday late afternoon and arrived to fanfare in Koh Samui yesterday, A collection of travel industry professionals were invited to an opening night gala aboard the ferry boat featuring an open bar, impressive food spread and live music to celebrate the launch of the new route.

When the regular service is launched, the ferry will run between Chon Buri province from Chuksamed Pier in Sattahip and Nathon Pier, the largest pier in Koh Samui where cruise ships have traditionally landed.

Regularly scheduled trips are not yet available as the recent trip was a test run, but are expected by the end of September.  Booking details will be via SPcruise.com, but the website is not yet live.

586 passengers and 15 rooms...that makes 39 passengers per room. Interestingly what kind of rooms they are????

Similar to many ferries around the world...only a few will have rooms, most will have a regular seat...in some places people actually pitch tents on open decks to sleep.

is there a ferry or a boat from Pattaya to Koh Chang ?

in the main reclining seats will be used by most passengers, a few will choose the pods, others the limited rooms, i also think there will be a non-seating area where seating/laying on the floor will be an option, this is the same ferry that was going to run from Sattahip to Songkhla, but moorings could not be found at the Songkhla end

Seems odd to me. 200 cars could have 580 people in them easy, leaving no room for walk ons - either that or the ferry is about to be overcrowded with an extra 4-500 people

Aaaah, yes, that happens all too often.

i was hoping to use that service for a trip south and drive back, the ferry could do with stopping on the mainland before crossing to the island, would make a trip down south better than driving

Perfect for bikers

Sound great and progressive to me.

A week in Ko Chang, then a health week in Pattaya followed by a week in Koh Samui.

Be interesting to know the transport options for those who do not take a vehicle at both ends. I have  a dislike of being gouged like the USA guys landing at Laem Chabang are.

Put in a casino and I'll go.

They forgot the pollution control. Belching as much smoke as a Bangkok bus. Do I get the reward for "dobbing" them in?

No thankfully. Best keep them in Pattaya or Samui. Dont want every island ruined.

I'm confused, the same company and same boat, has so far announced a Sattahip to Songkhla service, a Sattahip to Prachuap Khiri Khan service (Pattaya to Hua Hin), and Pattaya to Samui service. Last time I looked Sattahip is 30-40 ks from Pattaya and actually closer to Rayong.

The Sattahip - Songkhla ferry ran for a few months late 2021/early 22 and was subsequently binned due to problems at the Songkhla port.

Let's hope for Captain Steve that this route is more doable.

I dont know why a stop at Samui (or HH) wasn't included in that original service, they literally went past both.

Very cosy to say the least

Could be a nice, peaceful, and breezy cool way to travel between.

Samui maybe, but HH is definitely not on the line Sattahip-Songkhla. The owners went for a non-stop service, and it failed.

Oooh er missus...

Any alternatives to the overly choked highways is a good thing and welcome.
