The Election Commission (EC) must provide a more detailed guidelines of what political parties can do or cannot do during the 180 days period before the next general election as senior members of the government were already exploiting loopholes to promote coalition parties, a deputy leader of an opposition party said.

“I understand that the government has to help the people, but they cannot use loopholes for their own benefits by saying that this or that party has been doing such and such and they will come back to do it again if they were reelected,” said Nattawut Buaprathum, a list-MP and deputy leader of the Move Forward Party told reporters.

The 2017 constitution stipulates that potential Member of Parliament (MP) need to report all their spending on advertising or any other issues they spend money to avoid been seen as ‘buying’ votes from voters. This rule goes into effect 180 days before the house dissolves – March 23, 2023.
