KANCHANABURI police supported by soldiers rounded up 95 illegal migrants from last night to early this morning (Sept. 28) after they had sneaked in from Myanmar and were being taken for jobs in Bangkok, Rayong, Samut Sakhon and within Kanchanaburi itself with each of them having paid 15,000-30,000 baht to the smugglers, Naewna newspaper said.

Pol. Col. Santi Phithaksakul, head of Thong Pha Phum police station, together with Col. Chalermchai Chadchai, head of the 9th Infantry Regiment, led a team of policemen and soldiers in setting up a checkpoint in this district to apprehend the illegal migrants after getting a tip-off that a large number were being taken deeper in the country.

At around 3 a.m. two pick-up trucks converted into fresh food and seafood delivery vehicles approached the checkpoint at Vajiralongkorn Dam. Upon being stopped and searched 39 illegal job-seekers were found crammed within. In the first vehicle, driven by Mr. Bai, 45, were 21 of them and in the second vehicle, driven by Mr. Sarayuth, 33, 18.

95 x 15,000 - 30,000 baht = a lot of "dosh" for the smugglers - Thai or Burmese I wonder!

All looking for jobs and a way to escape from the Junta killing many of their family indiscriminately.  GF's mother was returned to Myanmar after she was arrested awhile ago, she is a Karen National whose husband was killed by the Burmese government in a skirmish years ago as he was in the KNU.  No such thing nor ability to claim refugee status either with this Thai Government and the UNHRC unless you are like the now in Canada Myanmar Beauty Queen.

They are really political refugees call the Canadian embassy they have room for them TIT

So who are the illegal employers?

I've never yet once heard of an employer being prosecuted.
