Residents living along the Ping River in the Muang district of Chiang Mai have been advised today (Monday) to move property to higher ground and to be prepared to open the electrical circuit breaker at home for safety, as the water level in the river continues to rise.

The provincial public disaster prevention and mitigation office, which issued the notice, reports that the water level inthe river, measured at the Nawarat Bridge today, was 4.52 metres, about 0.82 metres above the critical level.

With water flowing into the river from the Mae Tang river basin at about 697 m3/sec, the office predicts that the river’s level will rise further.

I used to have an hourly updated page of the river levels and flow volume bookmarked but can't find it now - does anyone have a link?

FYI some areas of Vieng Kum Kam are now waterlogged and a number of smaller roads flooded and impassible in a saloon car.

Was down at Worarot an hour ago and, while the river is high and looking angry (photo attached), saw no flooding near there (or as far down both Charoen Prathet and Chang Klan as I could see from Thaphae Road.  But still significant flooding farther south.

But understand the Mae Tang river basin is jammed full and the water is heading this way....and apparently they expect the river to rise some more.  Hopefully not too much.

13:00 today:   Lamphun road between Nong Hoi market and Mahidol Road.  Rajaveh hospital told us there was a shuttle operating which turned out to be a boat also delivering drinking water en route.  Quite deep in parts - I'm amazed that the bike in the bottom picture kept going for the entire length.
