BANGKOK, Oct 7 (TNA) – The National Water Command Centre warned people along the Chao Phraya River of rising water levels due to runoff from the North and high tides.

The Royal Irrigation Department has to increase the discharge rate of the Chao Phraya dam in Chai Nat to 2,900 cubic metres per second from Oct 8 and the the high tide is expected during Oct 8 -13.

Those areas to be affected are downstream provinces including Chai Nat’s Sappaya district, Sing Buri’s Inburi, Muang and Promburi districts, Ang Thong’s Pamok and Chaiyo districts, Ayutthaya’s Sena and Phak Hai districts where the water level will increase by 10-15 centimters.

It is an terrifiying event for many people in the flooded area.

Me feel real sad about all those families have to suffer the floods again and again.

I think nothing will change soon for the next hurricans come over land with rain and storm in the future

I agree however much of the flooding, not only or even principally in Thailand, is self inflicted. The sad truth is that people often choose to live in flood planes or areas liable to natural disasters. Florida is an example of an area that inflicted the recent tornado damage on itself.

The cure would be to move people out of the high risk areas. That would actually solve the problem.

With the whole area being so flat, the residents have to do their own style of flood proofing their homes.

Most have their main floor appliances raised up. and some have pretty good blocking means to keep at least the first half

meter of their homes fixed to keep flood waters out. I hope the khlongs that still exist have been dredged and kept cleaned

out, but that would be one big chore to do. Bangkok is one very large city in area. Good luck to all who live in the

low lying areas.
